I say let Andy sculpt a Modern PF. I love the Kirby styling on the original PF and for me the new comiquette was quite the letdown. I can't wait to see this, the next Doom PF, the next Sentinel versus X-Men dio, I could care less about value as long as the pieces look good.

As long as ES are held in check, true classics will be classics and retain a healthy value or more.

1. Hulk PF 1 is a small ES for its popularity of the character, a fantastic sculpt (whether you "like" it or not, the sculpt, attention to detail, paint finish, and representation of Kirby sculpt were all well executed by SS). A new PF Hulk (Hulk PF 2) done by SS will be a different rendition of the Hulk. If Hulk PF 2 is sculpted well, it will serve as a "companion" piece to Hulk PF 1, and hence maintain or increase value of Hulk PF 1. If Hulk PF 2 is not a great sculpt , then the obvious happens in value and demand to Hulk PF 1. And in fact, if Hulk PF 2 is executed well by SS, the saying wiill be "get both they are great on display together."

2. SS IM has way to high an ES AND to many choices, even for it's character popularity. As been mentioned twice, this why it is not holding it's high value. But having said that, the IM maq exc is STILL holding it's value way above the release price from SS, and in an economy that is not recovered yet.

3. Because of the superb job by SS on Venom Bust 1, it's low ES, and it's classical rendition of it, this sculpt will maintain a value way above it's release price. It falls under point 1, the example of Hulk PF in this post.

Since Steve had such a stylized approach to Carnage, i imagine he did the same with Venom. it will be interesting to see if he did the eyes the same as Carnage. i love the eyes of ver 1 Venom

Im just looking forward the the Alien Warrior lifesize bust vers 2 since I missed out vers 1.......... I seems Sideshow are running vers 2 of all lines.......Last it was the expensive Endoskelton lifesize statue vers 2...........

Whats next in the vers 2 line Sideshow ? :slap

You changed your handle. :tap

for some reason i can't highlight, but exactly number point#1. IF they do a remake Hulk PF i'll be buying it and NOT selling my previous hulks. it all has to do with supply and demand and there will always be a high demand for anything hulk related, well done that is.

I'm at a point where I really don't need to own more than 2 renditions of any character. Once something new surpasses (in my mind) an older release, I have no problem selling the older one. As much as I might like the investment component of pieces, I enjoy the visual and displayable component far more.

To think nothing will ever match or surpass your favorite piece is silly. Virtually everyone one of my favorite statues over the past 15 years has been surpassed by a later release of the character or revisit. It's only a question of time before it happens again to Doom, Hulk, Cap, Thor and so on.

I generally snicker whenever I read people saying they'll be buried with their PF.

:D

There have been tons a criticisms of the Hulk premium format, people seem to have forgotten that and place it on some infallible pedestal. But it was not, is not, as universally loved as some will lead you to believe.

When PFs first started to make waves, I had a really hard time adjusting to the cloth aspect. In my mind, the cloth gave statues this dress-up doll-like aura. I just wasn't ready to go there. In fact, it took me years to buy my first PF.

I was likely among those who picked on the Hulk PF. However now, all I see is a stunning sculpture. I don't even notice the clothes anymore. I've grown used to it now.

I'm still having a hard time with it. Works great for some costumes, fails terribly for others. As far as mediums go, film inspired collectibles work best for premium format treatment. But stuff directly off comic panels translates best in comiquette form. Unrealistic costumes will always look off when brought into the real world.

I completely agree. I would likely choose comiquettes over PFs 99% of the time. However, I must admit, once you own a few of these, you can get over the bias quite quickly. Just imagine a Dr. Strange PF or an Old Man Coppola Dracula (Gary Oldman) PF.

While I'm not out to replace my comiquettes by any means, I'll always take a look at the new PFs. If I like it, I have no issue pulling the trigger.

It's what makes them different and unique is why I love them, other than that they'd just be statues.... I don't view them as dolls although I do collect 1/6 :monkey3

This is where I'm at. Unless the clothing ruins it for me, I'm down. My biggest problem with comiquettes is inconsistent scale. I'd love 1/5 on a consistent basis. Even with all the 1/4 or Fail posts. Fingers crossed the Cap Com is 1/5

Only the AWESOME are 1:4 or fail
Doll collectors will not understand
You can take that to the bank.
