Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

It doesn't matter to me that it's true 1/4 scale. I just want it to be in scale with the big Alien.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

KPH was 7'2.5". With the costume he'd be around 7'4"-7'6"

Stag and I both have resin molds of the costume, and with a movie mold head, he comes in at 7'4, maybe 7'4.5, but its also possible the mold could have shrunk a little, so i guess we will never know for sure.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

doubt it, the 1/3 cm makes the SS maquette look tiny..............but we had a discussion about this long ago. Why would it be irrelevent?, it proves that this is not true to 1/4 scale, it should be a couple inches taller

Ah. I was thinking the maquette could've been out of scale, but the NECA figure being out of scale is most-likely the case. If the Alien's 22", then this guy should be at least 20" or 21" in my opinion. Accurate or not, the Alien should be bigger, but not by too much.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Has Tankman confirmed exactly how tall the finished figure is?

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

This thread is killing me ! so many new posts but still no new pic. :/ Come on NECA!

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

He confirmed it was 'big!':rock

It's around 19 or so inches tall. Feels about right next to the Alien. The detail turned out great and the weight and feel give it a nice higher dollar feeling to it. Were working on trying to make sure these will stand and 2 of the 3 stand great but one doesn't. Even though we're using the better factory on these pieces it's still tough trying to make sure the factory does the job the way we want it. I think this figure will be great if the production is anything like this kick but test shot I'm staring at.

Re: Neca 1/4 Predator

Yeah, for me the unmasked closed mouth is what best represents the Predator character to me personally. The roaring pose is a great and iconic pose but for something on display 24/7, the natural and mysterious look of the closed mouth wins every time.

If finances are good in May/ June I will get all 3 mind you. 1 on pre order is good for now. I can always look at retail when the time comes etc.

I prefer the Closed Mouth version ever so slightly over the masked. The Open Mouth is iconic, but we've seen is soo many times. You cannot go wrong with all 3.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

as long as the closed mouth and helmet version stand right, thats all i care about :p. When we getting more pics btw?

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Don't they all use the same bodies, though? I was thinking they'd pump out 15,000 of the same body, then seperate them into groups of 5,000 for each head.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I would imagine it comes down to weight of the head, which is why I was asking if the troublesome one was the one with the mask, I'd think that'd be heaviest head of the 3.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I can't see the heads being the problem, the difference in amounts of plastic is nominal at best I think... probably just the same kind of issues the other figures had with the odd loose joint here and there, they may just be really stepping up the QC on these things.

I really hope it turns out right. Whip that factory into shape sir tankman!

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Tankman, I'm curious about the production process. How does a larger scale model of your 2-up get made? It would seem to me that would require making a whole new sculpt, based off your original work. But that would seem to require a sculptor as talented as yourself. How exactly does the sculpt get "blown up" to the larger scale while retaining the similarity to your original sculpt?

There's ways to shrink and blow up molds; Im not sure how they do it but it's done without sculpting a new thing each time.

I hope they get the netting right, before predator goes in production.

You guys are still on the netting? That's like the smallest detail there is to mess up... IMO if they leave the netting the way it is with everything else right it'll still be a good figure.

Indeed, it will be a great figure even with the netting the way it is . . . but we are greedy.
