Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Maybe Ras threw Heath Ledger in the Lazurus pit and he will return as the Joker in TDKR!!!!!!!!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm glad they're stopping at three. Hollywood needs to put caps on all movie series. Otherwise they become like "SAW".

"They" haven't said they're stopping at three. Nolan is stopping at three. I imagine "they" will keep going until we get Batman & Robin 2.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm inclined to agree about movies being capped and not having sequel after sequel, but I think some characters are so legendary that they just beg to have a dozen adventures. I doubt the Greeks got tired of hearing new exploits for Hercules. Then again they liked killing their heroes off so...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

WB will keep making Batman films as long as people keep buying tickets and video.

So for Batman "4" I wonder how many people would prefer a continuation of Nolan's world or a clean break and different direction? What style should follow Nolan? A "near reality" world or a more comic book surreal style once again?

Hopefully they've learned that the majority of people don't want to see anything too surreal with Bats. But a bit more of a comic element couldn't hurt.

Bale keeps saying he's gone when Nolan leaves but really...he's got nothing else to do. They can throw a pile of money at him and he's there for a couple of more.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think the popularity of the animated series and especially the new arkham games is some pretty clear evidence that you can stick closer to the actual world of batman and gotham.

If they do continue to make movies, I hope it is something that can ease into some of the more fantastical stuff while both taking it as serious as the nolan films. I also like the aspect of the Arkham games where every character is already in existance...theres no origin stories...I think it would be cool to just jump right into things.

Idk if I can see bale to continue doing these, I can't wait to see his performance in the third one, but it seems to me theres probably alot of friction in his mind about working with a director and going against his own word. he's always talking about not wanting to be a celebrity or movie star and that he wants people to know his acting ability and not his own personal life..I feel like being batman for 6 movies might not be the best way for him to push his acting further.

I'd like to see clint eastwood play batman in the final years...just pissed off and racist.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think it would be pointless to reboot the continuity. Nolan's series perfectly establishes Batman's origin and early career. Why redo it? Make it like the Bond series. Batman is already established, and let him go off on a new adventure in each film. He could still have the basic Nolan backstory, but there's no reason he shouldn't eventually go up against Man-Bat, Clayface etc.

I do think the next director should go off in his own stylish direction, and not copy Nolan. Hell, make Gotham more comic-booky like in ARKHAM ASYLUM. Keep the supernatural elements and throw Batman in the middle of it. Just don't start the story from scratch.

I wanna see a battle-hardened 40-year old Batman have various scuffs with The Joker, eventually meet Robin and crossover with Superman. Not BATMAN: YEAR ONE all over again. And again. And again.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm all for skipping the batman origin from here on out. I think that's been taken care of enough... lets get to more action.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

If WB holds true to history, they'll bring someone in who can capture the feel with respect to Nolan's work. That movie will work kind of in comparison, be a nice continuation but feel and look interestingly different...it'll be successful and so the director will get full reign completely ____ the series three ways from Friday and 8 years after we'll get a reboot.

:exactly:

This is what I expect to happen.

What i'd like to happen of course is they hire a very talented upcoming director who can continue with the established origin and initial story of Nolan's, and take it further but with his own style, potentially leaving things open for further 'escalation' to the point where supernatural enemies are possible.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I've been thinking lately about what i'd want to happen after the dark knight rises. I'd love to see someone else come in with their own take on the franchise. Not continue with nolans series. I do totally love his batman films and i love bale as batman, but i dont want to see someone else trying to continue his world. I'd really love to see someone else start their take on it with the intention of making a whole bunch of movies, a continuing series of films, not just two or three. And then find a good middle ground with the dark, gritty realism and the fantastical elements. Much like the Arkham Asylum game, or some of the comic books. Or kind of like the watchmen movie. Also, like others have said, i dont wanna see another origin story. Have batman early in his career, but still established, his relationship with gordon etc. And start off with someone like hugo strange, like the comics, and then slowly work in more surreal characters like bane, croc, ra's al ghul (proper ra's, not nolan ra's), poison ivy, mr freeze. etc.
I have an idea in my head how it would all be, just a shame im not a movie director. Haha.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I sorta feel like I don't ever want to see another origin of a character or a villain.

That's my favorite part of the Dark Knight...the joker is just there and growing. Then you have pretty much the whole movie to get comfortable with dent and then his transformation is completely part of the story and makes sense. Most movies kinda just rush it to get through it. Makes me feel like I need to go smoke 3 cigarettes in the theatre lobby.

Yeah. I'd like to see something like that too.
