We're going to put more into our proto than HT did. HT was smart though because they didn't use as much color as we did but they knew how to make it look great with less. For example on the armor they used only two colors but still it looks great. I'm thinking on our 18inch figure that we should ditch the blast marks. Those never look great even on the CM. We're going to add more color to the head and it should look really great. It will be easier for China production to make this big guy look nice. We're hoping for the best and the good news we're not rushed to make a deadline like we did with the Predators figures for example.

yeah i'm not gonna miss the airbrushed blast burns on the armor/helmet. the only time i've seen that look good was on the actual prop costume and it looks cheap on everything else. good riddance.

Its not just isolated cases i spoke about. If this predator was really high quality and the paint has no slop and was as good as hot toys medicom enterbay and it came with the 2 extra heads you could charge the same price as them and people would be very happy despite the lack of articulation . People would pay much more for higher quality and it might help to redeem neca in the eyes of some. I hope you take time and really think about what you are doing as this predator is going to be looked at by so many fans out there. It could be super great and its not an opportunity to waste to save a few bucks or more in production. You guys really need to get on the ball with this one and do the best job you ever have with it.

And how do we know you are who you say you are? Its pretty far fetched that a neca sculptor would join a forum like this to help sell products. No offence if you are who you say you are.

I don't think it's far-fetched at all.
Kyle, AKA Tankman, has joined other forums in the past to gather information and references both on aliens and predators, as well as geek out over cool toys like the rest of us.

In any case, yes, he is who he says he is.

Its pretty cool having a sculptor from one of the big companies here, you know for a fact the company is hearing your wishes at least. Whether they can grant them all is another thing but Neca and HT are doing a pretty good job of that lately.

Why havent we seen any photos of the product since its been officially announced already? Preorders are up and we havent even seen good shots of the product from neca and only have the assurances of someone saying hes the one that sculpted it. I call bull____. We should have a bunch of photos showing us what we should expect before we consider buying it and not just prototype photos a fan took at wonderfest or something. They have told us they were using new factories before and the products were only marginally better than the old one and Im not holding my breath this time because of that history. There is going to be a real ____storm if people start getting their orders and start seeing the same old problems and quality deficiencies that havent been dealt with properly and all neca will say is sorry its the best we could do and blame it all on the Chinese factory just like they always do. $80 is VERY expensive for an 18" neca and I have the feeling that its more about profit making than giving the fans the best that can be done to justify the higher price.

And if tankman is who he says he is he could post some photos that would make us believe he is who he says and not just post photos that get released everywhere and them comment on them after the fact. Give us some concrete answers instead of all this airy fairy stuff that anyone could say because its already been talked about on twitter and the like. Again Im sorry if he is who he claims he is but the www is full of people on twitter etc pretending to be celebs and whoever.

What right do you have to question someone on this forum?? All you've done since coming here is degrade NECA with your negative posts, but give all the love in the world to HT, who'se figures may have top articulation, but are incredibly inaccurate.

Well you should take your own advice and stop questioning me then. All the major products that get discussed here are open to scrutiny and comment and neca is not immune from that. And saying hot toy isnt accurate compared with neca is just stupid because they are different things and comparing them as anywhere near equal. and you cant even see the accuracy on necas because the sculpts are dull an ill defined and have none of the super sharp lifelike paint and details that high end products do. neca makes cheap throw away toys that you buy at the average corner toy store. they might not be throw away to some but some collect the stuff Mc Donalds gives away as well. I only have a few necas these days but they have the chance to blow us away with this one and I hope they take the opportunity to do it right rather than save a few dollars or more at the factory production level and mess it up some way.

thats a good point actually. Everyone is basing ther opinions of this piece on some pictures from wonderfest and one official picture. Very bad advertising for this figure imo. There is only one picture of this figure that has been officially released by Neca unless im missing something here???, and everyone ate it up without any question. Where as, other companies give you multiple angles and plenty of pictures to base your opinions on. A little odd imo............

Dude, just don't order the thing if you have such misgivings.

And I know Kyle personally, so I can tell you that Tankman is who he says he is.

As for showing the product, every single Hot Toys/Sideshow/DiD/etc figure previewed has been the prototype, not the final product. It takes months from proto to final product, that's just the way it is.

Kyle, I'm curious: how does your sculpt make its way onto a different scale? I understand the concept of the sculptor making the sculpt and then the company forms the mold around the sculpture, but how is the mold made for a figure that it is a different size than the sculpt?

I think you should leave the blast marks ,as they are movie accurate, and make predator look battle worn , not like brand new, never had any former battles, hunts before.( nothing should be taken away, only added and improved)

I think you should leave the blast marks ,as they are movie accurate, and make predator look battle worn , not like brand new, never had any former battles, hunts before.( nothing should be taken away, only added and improved)

Yeah, I want the blast marks to stay...if not, i'll just add my own.
No probs for me but I think it would be better for most people who cant paint if they are included as standard.

Not being funny but if you hate Neca products so much, don't post on the threads. Ofcourse you can see the accuracy on Neca's sculpts. Paint is easily altered, and for $15 I really don't see why you're getting so ____ing _____y about it.

ALL the 18" Neca figures I have are awesome. Their newest Predators may not have the best paint but they are far more accurate than any other toy company is producing.

I'm with Kyle on the paint. NECA blasts on an 8" figure can look ok on 8 inch figures but will likely look cheesy at 1I inches. Predator may look too clean without them, but with poorly done marks, he'll look very toyish. Blast marks are fairly easy to add yourself and better than the factory. I think simplifying what's painted so that a top notch job can be done is the right course.

The mask will be dead on to what I sculpted and hopefully I got it close. The first test shot are do in this week and I'll see for myself how the big guy is coming along. Fingers crossed there will not be many things to get China to fix.

Thank you the answer Tankman. I really hope Neca can do justice to your sculpt. It deserves more than a bad paint job etc..It would be very disappointing if they will make the figure look bad.

I have to agree with you here. Neca really can make a big hit with this Predator if they make it right...otherwise it will be a very big disappointment IMO.

18 inch are too small.
