Re: Neca 1/4 Predator

how much is the pre-order price actually?

Does the head could be changeable? because someone in my local store opening a PO 276USD for 3pcs as a set...

based on information I read on the internet, it said its 80USD per item? is it true??

Re: Neca 1/4 Predator

What is by the rumor that the Predator is limited to 5,000 units?
I find a limitation in Neca already weak inning and hope that one strays from the idea.

Re: Neca 1/4 Predator

Why is it people can't simply enjoy a great figure when it is announced?
There really is nothing to fault on this figure.
It is exceedingly accurate, very large, not too expensive and, as stated by the manufacturing company, will get the best paint apps they can give it.
What exactly is the problem?

I don't get it either. I'm just super excited that they're finally making an 18" scale Predator figure. I've been waiting for this since back in the day when McFarlane got the license. It's so great that this will be 1000 times better than anything McFarlane could have put out. The only thing that makes me sad is that I need to find another 18" Alien because mine was damaged and it looks like the BBTS pre-orders are closed.

This is a great deal ! Predator 1 or 2 or Baby Predator, i dont know :dunno LOL
Inaccurate, small, expensive, with one word terrible ! Every true fan of the film know that. :monkey1

I think we have a few owners of the funny 12" guy from Hot Toys here.

They are jealous because Neca bring a much more accurate and bigger Predator for less than a half.
I understand the anger, really.

only time will tell, and if the production pieces are just a scaled up version of the 7 inch figure with netting and necklace, i would pass on this

at $80, they should have given at least 2 head sculpts

Re: Neca 1/4 Predator

.. The sculpt is better than the HT, it's 1;4 scale and it's ONLY $80. How could anyone complain about this..

Re: Neca 1/4 Predator

I suppose its easier to come down from paying HT prices than it is to go up to paying this when you've previously been used to...whatever it is 18" figures have been in the past.

Personally I didn't blink but I have no memory of what I paid for 18" Robocop or endoskeleton. I do know it would have been at a more inflated price as I got them in Forbidden Planet.

I'm not about to complain. But, having appreciated the work of Sideshow and Hot Toys now, a company that has IMO been more about producing really nice toy figures instead of collectible figures, carries some skepticism at the idea they're going to make a foray into Hot Toys or Sideshows back yard. I think a lot of us are thinking they're making a large version of their previous toy, which isn't to say that is a bad figure. But, it is what is is, a toy. If they don't do that, they may impress us and we'll all be surprised at the low cost. If they design the figure and packaging with collectors in mind, they could make an impact.

Re: Neca 1/4 Predator

This is gonna be a grail, stands him near the Cinemaquette!!

The only problem is we have to wait it 'til next year!!! Thats the problem!!

Yeah, this is kind of where I'm coming from. If it ends up looking like those giant Jason, Pinhead, or Jack Sparrow figures that NECA has produced in the past for Spencers and Suncoast, then I'm just not gonna have any use for it. Looks and feels too cheapish for my tastes.

As is the HT figure, much though I love it. Actually, the HT figure, with its emphasis on poseability and accessories, is much more of a toy than the NECA one; it's clearly meant to be fiddled with, swapping parts out etc, rather than posed and left.

If they don't do that, they may impress us and we'll all be surprised at the low cost. If they design the figure and packaging with collectors in mind, they could make an impact.

The thing is, you could view the NECA 18" Predator as a $80 model kit which requires painting; at that price, for the sculpt, it's a steal IF you have the time and skills to take advantage of it. I mean, I paid more than that for the old Argonauts 14" vinyl kits back in the early 90s...

Meh. The whole high-end vs low-end collector thing is petty elitism. The ones with the real bragging rights are those who have the art to make the best of the figures shine through.

Which is something I don't have the skills for. So, I'm shooting for buying stuff that's as close as possible.

I have some NECA stuff, and for my collection, they're not Hot Toys. I have them out to be goofed around with, where my Hot Toys and Sideshow figures are on display. I conceed HT and SSC have the accessories to let you fool around with them, but they're not built to be played with. The NECA figures can take some abuse, are tough and durable, but also are to me really nice versions of the stuff you find in the kids isle (no offense to NECA intended). To those ends, you could hand one to a kid and it'll surely survive. Even the 1/4 Pred looks like it might be similar.

If you look at the pictures, notice where his waist rag or skirt or whatever you would call it, and his thighs meet, there looks to be the joint/line where the leg will turn. With the skirt painted on as part of the sculpt, when you turn the leg that's going to be out of alignment and noticeable just like most other toy figures. Granted you see that on Hot Toys stuff sometimes. Also, there appears to be a fairly deep seam above the belt where it looks like the figure will pivot. But I think the difference is how each company goes about hiding the little details that scream plastic figure. Hot Toys has impressed me with their ability to hide those seams, while even on the predator line they've got joints that show as well. So has Sideshow. But, they've historically made me happier with the paint jobs and detailing. But, it's hard to tell if what I'm seeing is even what I think they are. We'll know more once we get more pictures closer to release.

I hope to be wrong. I've got a couple of these on preorder and would love to say NECA has beaten HT and SSC on the Predator figure line. But, while I expect these will be the best thing NECA has put out that I've seen, I still expect them to lean more on the toy side, if that makes sense. The price point seems agreeable with this expectation as well. I'll really enjoy this figure without complaint, but for the debate this thread has taken on, I'm personally not expecting Hot Toys or Sideshow in terms of materials and paint, or craftsmanship. That said, I totally agree the sculpt looks very nice, which leads me to believe this will be a jewel for NECA's own offering.

Sabres...it's not impossible for them to include extra heads. They've done it before with sculpts full of detail in the 18 inch scale. It's not unheard of. Would I expect THREE heads in one package? No. But I would've been fine with 2. I know how this process works. I've known for years. But dispite that, NECA could've done it. Not much I could do about it now. Which is why i'm disappoined. Dont tell me I dont have a right to be.

That being said, I've already said my peace on the matter, and NECA aint gonna change their minds. So i'll buy the closed mouth when I can see some actual product photos.

You lying, i have much 18" figures here and only Jason (remake), Rob Zombies Michael Myers , freddy from the NEW NIGHTMARE and the Freddy from Freddy vs Jason coming with two.

They have more than 50 figures in 1/4 and as i said only four with two heads

:lol:lol:lol

Your post is hilarious.

You highlighted the part where he said it wasn't impossible to include multiple heads with one figure and that Neca's done it in the past.

You then say he's lying, but go on to post example of Neca having done so in the past.
