Re: Sideshow or Hot Toys for SW 12 inch?

SS will get to every version of ever character. Hot Toys won't.

Re: Sideshow or Hot Toys for SW 12 inch?

the more the merrier... Star Wars figures should be like cel phone plans... lots of options. if HT offering Star Wars figures could coexist with both Sideshow and Medicom, why not? the consumer always decides...

plus, a HT's Grievous wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Re: Sideshow or Hot Toys for SW 12 inch?

I think both could co-exist. But, I do have a preference for Sideshow, nostalgia I guess.

Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

Don't hate on me. I'm curious if ever. They've stated it would be their favorite to do.

Is it true there's a Japan license or something that Medicom has or something? And SS has the US one? (not clear on this) I'm just wondering if you think they will EVER get it....Even if it's 2014 or whatever.

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

eventually yes. And I get all of them. But there will be only the mandatory figures, HT never has done more than 5 or 6 of one license

I have heard this before, but i think SW will be an exception.

$

Plus saying it would be their most wanted to do. (Think at the littlest, we would see TDK and IM type of releases at a minimum.)

:dunno

This thread is a license for thenammagazine to kill. I can already see red in his eyes. :lol

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

Yeah - they've really pumped out those Matrix figures......... oh wait.

And thankfully they didn't pull a sideshow and leave the Watchmen line incomplete....... oh wait.

I'm so glad they don't do a million versions of the same character - I'd hate to get like 4 Lukes or something. Imagine if they did that with the Joker or something.... oh wait.

And people would certainly be completists at the likely $200 per figure... its not like they complain when Sideshow charge half that....... oh wait.

What a stupid topic

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

^^:lol

SW is too broad a license for a manufacturer that only cares about producing main characters to do.

If anything, I see Hasbro taking the license back before HT gets it.

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

:panic:

Can anyone answer the License question?

Well we've already seen HT and Medicom produce figures from the same license simultaneously. So obviously that's possible.

Do I think it will happen? No.

No, right. But i've heard there's a Japan SW license which Medicom has. Any validity to this? That you can't have two of the same and the same time or something? That's why Medicom and SS can produce figures at the same time? This is what i have continually heard over the past few years. Dunno if there's any truth to it, but seeing as how i've heard it from a number of people.:dunnoIf it's true i want HT to grab Medicom's. :)

I will not give OSCORP the satisfaction of earning me an infraction. :nana::moon:nana:

Considering the Asian license is a money press for Medicom I doubt they'll ever release the rights. The fact that they keep putting out figures with higher price tags to boot, pretty much shows they won't be relinquishing the Asian license any time soon. I think the same is true for Sideshow. Enjoy the Armored bodies and potentially any other bodies HT helps Sideshow with. That's the closest you'd get to an HT Star Wars figure. Besides, I don't care what anywone says. With HT's ADD, we'd get 9 figures from all 6 films and 5 of those would be Luke/Han variants.

BTW OSCORP, search is your friend. ;)

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

The Medicom issue is why I don't see it happening, either. Yes, they have had licenses that HT had, but those are typically the "whore" licenses that will go to anyone who wants to pay (Disney stuff, for instance, or AVP). Nothing like Star Wars, which I know that Lucas is very careful about in terms of minimizing the overlap of similar products in similar regions (they are not interested in licensing Minimates because they already have LEGOs in the U.S., for instance).

And based on the Kubrick line and recently announced 1/6 figures like the Droids and Fetts, Medicom still seems pretty strongly focused on Star Wars, so I don't see them giving that up anytime soon.

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

Dont we need a petition before there is a poll? :monkey1

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

Go more into the Asian license dealio my nemesis. So i can understand.

:lol:rotfl:lol Well, bub :)nana:), if it's the same as airsoft, the license is regional, meaning one company can snatch up exclusive rights per region. Hasbro has the rights for U.S. (and likely EU) and Medicom has the rights to Asia.

Ok regional. got it. What about SS? SS and Hasbro at the same time?

Re: Will Hot Toys ever get the SW license?

I really doubt they will. Especially not while Sideshow has it (regardless of region license issues).
