Daniel, you got me thinking if I should be buying 1 or 2 of these, Cobb looks stellar! So stellar that you made me use a word I've never used before. Stellar!

I already commented on Cobb, but I've been showing your WIPs to my sisters and fiancee. They all loved Arthur but they all tore your Cobb to pieces. I defended it and said there was a good sculpt SOMEWHERE in it. You tried again and not everyone was happy. Myself included but I really thought it was an improvement. Then you made this and I am really 100% satisfied with it. I can't wait to get these!

My gushing rant is over now.

Is anyone able to get me some good pics of Cobb as he appears in limbo? Is that the same outfit he wears with Ariadne in there first dream experience? I might go for that look instead.

I am taking deep breaths and counting to ten over and over again. You guys need to cut Daniel some slack. You are not commissioning these sculpts. You are buying copies of a sculpt he is doing out of the goodness of his heart for some collectors. I am not buying eithe rof these sculpts as I have no desire to either see the movie or own a Leonardo Di Crappio figure. He has already stated that he spent over twice his usual sculpting time on these heads. And that was mainly to keep the nit-pickers at bay. Daniel is a super talented artist and a really nice guy but if I was him I would throw both sculpts in the garbage and tell some of you to pay the money to commission these heads. Some of the guys in this thread sound like they have shelled out over $400 to have Daniel sculpt it for them instead of offering to buy a $30 cast when it is all done. Do the math. If Daniel can earn his fee by knocking out a sculpt in 12 to 15 hours then his is already losing money by spending twice that long on the Cobb and Arthur sculpts. Plus, on these sculpts there is no commissioner so he has to now sell twice as many of these sculpts as he would of his McClane sculpt (which he did in half the time it took to do these two). You are going to chase him away. I am obviously not as patient as he is because I would have walked away by now. I would sculpt the heads and cast them and sell them and I would have the final say. And I am just going by the posts in these threads. I am sure his PM box is full of idiotic rants about nose size and distance between eyes and other esoterica. By my count, we have exactly one (1), count 'em, one sculptor who is on these boards with any sort of regularity and availability and some people are driving him bananas with endless posts about noses and what not. He is obviously a gentleman because he didn't get angry and tell certain people where to go but you just have to read his post yesterday closely to tell how upset he was. And the most heinous offenders, instead of sincerely apologizing and admitting what a$$es they were, either remain completely silent (and I am thinking of the member who is selling his figures rather than put sub-standard heads on them) or patting Daniel on the head like an obedient dog for finally getting the F'ing nose right. It's crap.
I am all for getting the best head sculpts we can get but at the end of the day (say all you want about high-end collectibles) it's a toy, a doll, an action figure. You want absolute perfection pay Leonardo Di Caprio to come over and sit on a shelf in your den. But until you can swing that deal cut poor Daniel some slack.

Perhaps some people could use a bit more tact when critiquing Daniel's work, but overall I think the out pour of approval, nay, worship of his talents far outweighs the negative (usually constructive) criticism. That being said, I have no illusions of the enormous service that Daniel has done myself and countless other collectors by producing some unbelievably amazing unlicensed headsculpts. I've made sure that Daniel is aware of my overwhelming gratitude, and I know I'm not the only one.

What is this you refer to Daniel bud?
That said, I know you have a lot of stuff going on, and if to do it right you need to wait until December I understand.
Oh , I mean I have some HT TT narrow bodies that I can ship out then:peace
the head sculpts are going out as planned.:lol

Thanks for the comments on the Leo head.

Hey Mike, I really appreciate you sticking up for me. When it comes to public pieces I ususally get into the "buyer is alway right" mentality but you definitely voiced some frustrations I have legitimately faced before.

I actually consider myself lucky because many of you are so kind and say nice things about me on this forum since I post here.:1-1:
Especially since I know it's not so much the case for some other great sculptors I respect (Feng, Rainman, Hot toys sculptors, and Z) who sometimes get harsh critiques since they are not on the boards.:lecture (you know it's true haha)

I want to thank everyone for all the support you have given me. Though there were many suggestions for edits on Leo, almost all of my Cobb orders were placed right after I uploaded the original pictures anyways.

Ah cool, thanks for the clarification. :)

And I'm interested in one or two of those Narrow Shoulder TT's!

Agreed. Daniel, has given so much time, effort and created some
great sculpts for the pulbic. I myself, think he should do 99% commission only with an occassional public release.

:lecture Because if you're paying, you get a say, if you're not paying for the commission, you get no say!

We're lucky Daniel even listens at this point.
Let's not push away another great artist. If you really want complete
control, pay for it....he's worth every penny. If not, at least take
the time to be tackful in your comments, when an artist like him, is generous
enough to offer up public sculpts. We can't afford for
people to not think before they speak.
We want Daniel to be here
for a long, long time. That we can all agree on.

:hi5:

My point exactly. If a sculptor is generous enough to offer up a public piece in the hopes of selling a few casts then we all should be grateful enough to sit quietly and take what he gives us.

Have there really been that many tactless comments? :dunno

Daniel, if I said anything to offend you I apologize. I feel very fortunate that I will be owning one of your fantastic pieces of art! :bow

Fellow artists were critiquing his work. People who stated they have no interest in it took the time to look at his work and instead of blindly praising him (as happens on these boards at times), they decided to tell him their honest opinion. I see nothing wrong with that.

Daniel didn't have to make the revisions. But he did and his heads are all the better for it.

And sorry if this response is tactless. I'm pumped to own these heads. They'll be the first I own from Daniel.
