Is it amusing when someone starts throwing around accusations that you're a fraud when it is true Jake?

Say for instance when a board member [you] specifically asks another board member [me] to order an excl. Wolverine PF for them . Do you remember me PMing you on July 20th [the day before SS billed me] making sure we were still on, and you responding with "Awesome... Thanks again!!"? Don't worry if you can't remember, I've kept the PM's and will gladly forward them if need be.
Well, thanks to you, I'm now stuck with a PF that I only ordered as a favour to you, and I'm going to have to pay the shipping fee's to send it back to SS.
So, if you're trying to paint yourself as a good guy, someone who keeps his word, is honourable and trustworthy...then you're a fraud. If you're trying to paint yourself as a sleazebag who doesn't have the slightest problem screwing people over for nothing more than trying to do you a favour....then you're not a fraud.

My only regret, other than trusting you to be a man of your word, is I can only leave a neutral feedback for you. It isn't your first neutral, and I doubt it'll be your last, but it will put you one neutral closer to being banned from the commerce section which I can't say would be a bad thing at the moment.

1) I haven't checked or returned any PMs on here until today as I've been on my iPhone for most of my internet usage as of late.

2) I have every intention of paying you for this piece even though I have no plans to keep it.

3) Harsh words from someone who I sent a fb Balrog diorama to for retail after you missed it.

4) You have a PM detailing the circumstances. Don't believe me about the iPhone statement, ask Computerfly... He's working on some customs for me and I told him about this a week or so ago so he could contact me on an iPhone friendly email (juno isn't).

you lucky bastard, cause i pm'ed him about it the second i read his post he was getting rid of it. He said if you passed on it, he would sell it to me. Was it a good deal? as, would i have bought it for the price? :lol

Sheesh!
You can always ask me these things in PM, you know?

:D

Just so it doesn't get too buried, I have an interest thread for a 1st appearance head for this PF in the customs area.

not a grail when everyone can't afford it. just wait when people start "swinging" back to pick this one up and the value will be going up.

Doubt that with already 2 versions up (comiquette and PF) and upcoming brown version. That and that fact that some don't like the jammies. Not so many so called grails exist when there is more than 1 version out and the existing ones have price drops when another version of the character is released.

...Today I also got my convertion (didn't thoughtit would) along with a few others (Gambit, Psylock and Kratos)...:hi5:

It's always the same. Sideshow announces a new piece, and it get's hyped. When it finally get's into people's hands, it gets trashed by those that didn't order it to lower it's value, and it gets defended and praised by those that did order it, to raise its value. Fact is, most SSC PF drop significantly under retail shortly after they are released. A few PF's manage to keep their value - mostly the exclusives - and only a handful actually become highly desired expensive pieces (and even those can loose value over time).

I can't hear that 'grail' talk anymore. The word 'grail' is highly over-used, often by people that do too much wishful thinking. Not only here, but on other boards as well. I wished people would WAIT until a piece actually turned into a grail, instead of 'talking it' into a grail. There is no grail guarantee, but a good collectible, will always be a good collectible, with or without grail talk. Buy what you like, then wait and see.

Do you think folks' posted opinions are really determined by potential or wished for value? I can't imagine that is the case for most people. Either you like something or you don't. Some will want something more because it is rare, sure, but in general, I don't think that will affect how they evaluate it. If folks like or don't like, purely because of anticipated value, then those are some strange, sad people, IMO. These are collectibles, not stocks or some other item where general value is intrinsically tied to monetary value.

I do agree that premature "grail" talk is silly, if it is in anticipation of what is going to be worth 5 times the original value in the future or whatever (I guess that is the real definition of a "grail" as collectors think of it). But then, that is such a subjective concept, that if someone's "grail" is something that is cheap and easy to find, but is awesome and highly desirable, then that's fine, too. I guess my question would be--where does the "grail" analogy (referencing the Holy Grail, presumably) begin and end? Is it a desirable thing? Is it extremely rare and hard to come by? Is it something possessing magical powers imbued by God? Wolvie PF rocks over London and on Chicago simultaneously, I don't care if it is "worth" $3,000 in the long run, or $3. Anywayz.

My opinion as well, don't get me wrong if it's worth more I'll be happy but I don't see me selling so whatevers.

Not that the Venom is a grail but we saw that price go up a lil because it's a well done statue and nothing more, no low ES and the hype was going down until the Carnage and Spidey release, all of a sudden it go a jump up, so I guess so supporting cast can help other statues in the long run.

Price is determined by basic supply and demand. Economics 101. How many are made...how many want the piece. That is all you need to determine a price in the aftermarket. Hype can help demand for a piece. This will be short lived. Over time hype fades. A statue that looks GREAT will stand the test of time.

It's unfortunate that a communication breakdown has turned into this.

I'll take the blame, it's my fault that I changed my alert settings and didn't bother to check my PMs until last night. BUT I also intended to pay for this from day 1 and I still do... I decided against keeping it, but I asked him to get it for me so I'm still going to buy it.

I agree with what you say. . .except the last couple sentences. Hype can have short-term effects that turn into long-term effects as people start believing the hype. Regarding whether great looking statues will "stand the test of time," an expert on public opinion once told me that "the masses are asses." Some great statues will be worth a lot down the road, some won't, because "greatness" is so subjective. If Sideshow released a crappy, but extremely rare statue, it would probably be worth a fair amount down the road. I worry about the Mark VI Maquette's long-term price, because they are producing the hell out of it (despite it looking like a very awesome piece).

I have a feeling that will be around for some time to come and possible drop.

Look at the Bowen retro Cable. Hype overpriced that piece. It was short lived. NO ONE is paying $1000 dollars for that piece anymore. The hype faded rather quickly.

"the masses are asses."

I LOVE that quote. Too often it's true.

If Sideshow released a crappy, but extremely rare statue, it would probably be worth a fair amount down the road.

Only if there is a fair demand for the character/piece.

Be afraid. Very affraid. Too damn much SS Iron Man merch to choose from.
