From the Sideshow SDCC 2010 Chat: :(

TheMonster: Will we ever see the Son of Frankenstein Silver Screen Edition in another format?

Brock Otterbacher: Most likely, no. Sorry

TheMonster: Why not?

Brock Otterbacher: Well, the cost to make product and run our business at the level it's at these days doesn't really allow us to do smaller, REALLY obscure characters like that anymore.

Please Sideshow, Do not be my Dreamkiller, You are all better than that.:monkey2

The Monster,
Nick

Obscure horror characters will probably not be done again for a long time, if ever. The figure market a couple years ago was great for this stuff, what with SOTA and everyone else making characters we never thought we'd see but, like the video game and sports card market before it, the market became saturated and crashed. Only proven or blockbuster properties are worth the investment for now.

Re: Some good news from Sideshow Collectibles!

TheMonster: Any chance of Mike Hill doing a Karloff Mummmy 1:1 Bust, in wrap?

Matt Aylward: There's always a chance!

Iron Man is boring.

Son of Frankenstein Monster is a obscure character?

My thoughts also EVILFACE, Karloff in Son of Frankenstein as The Monster is a MUST in both Color & SSE in PF Figures, 1:1 Scale Busts Dios, the works! What are they thinking! They should let people like you and I work for them! They would make a mint! Not only could I come up with ideas for their Monster lines but I could come up with ideas for their other lines as well! Let me at it Sideshow!

You have to remember it costs alot of money to design and manufacture these pieces as well as run the business itself. If they are going to invest the time into making a piece which in turn will be paying their bills, they are going to make darn sure its somthing ALOT of people will buy. Everyone complains about oh no not another ironman, starwars, indy, or LOTR piece ,blah blah blah. But the reason why they produce these items so much is because they know they will sell. I know alot of you have alot of hopes and dreams and you probably think others share that with you, and im sure there are some. But not enough to warrant investing money into it. Remember people they do this because they love it, but they also have to make money as well, they arent going to take chances on making money.

oh trust me our ideas would make them money. Remember it is us the collectors who buy this stuff. I feel the fans should have more of a say so in what gets produced.

Im not saying it wouldnt bring them money. What I am saying is it probably wont bring in enough people to sell out a run of thousands. You may be passionate and you may know others that are too but in their minds unless they have hundreds of people kicking down their doors for more monsters figures then they arent going to take that step. Im sure if they could get over 1500 preorders for an item without having to produce it first then theyd make one but we all know what the chances of that happening are.:thud:

I collect more than just Monsters by the way, I Like all of Sideshow's lines. I know that I could come up with product lines that would sell well. So could all of my friends out here.

I think you're being a bit naive though, maybe assuming everybody else has the same collectible habits you do and lumping them in with your thoughts. Which they don't. There's still a substantial market for it out there otherwise Diamond Select wouldn't have picked up the license and Sideshow's UMs still fetch a healthy price on the secondary market.

Yes, I like the UM very much, the amazement I had when these arrived I will never forget.

The paint may look outdated now, but the sculpts done by Oluf hartvigson still are top.

have to say I actually agree that the odds of a Son of Frank PF selling good are low.
It took them forever to sell their LAM PFs.

What good is it to have a set that is not done? Answer me that.

why would Sideshow do the Karloff Frankenstein Monster figures from the first two frankenstein films and not the 3rd? that would be pointless. We need a Karloff Mummy/ Ardeth Bey in Color and SSE as well. If I do not see those along with a Karloff Mummy/in Mummy Wrap 1:1 Bust at some point, My days of buying from Sideshow will come to an end, that's it.
