Since this sculpt looks to be based entirely on P1, I see no need to wait for the later official P1 release, seeing as they're identical. I'll just get these three, the Flusher Predator (if they make it), the P2, and the P2 Elder.

Well if you want a truly accurrate P1, you'd need to hold out for that figure to have the bone decorations. If you're content without such details, then get the classic and call it a day.

You raise a valid point... Plus with my luck, they'd probably deck out their P1 with a medkit, among other things (a skull 'n' spine, perhaps?). Guess I'll just have to see. Get both and sell the one I don't want, like I did with my NECA Wolves. I want only one of each, so I will choose the head variant I want based on my current collection. For instance, I have an unmasked P1 and a masked P2. So I'll get a masked NECA and an unmasked P2... Then again, an open-mouthed P1 (as shown here) is mighty tempting. I have to take in stock the balance between masked and unmasked Predators characters I'll have; the masked Falconer is a must, as might be Berserker. Dunno.
Aw, CRAP! This is so confusing... Y'know what? I'll just buy every single release and sell off the variants I dislike. There. Damn you, NECA! Ever heard of interchangeable heads!? Ya did it on New Nightmare Freddy Krueger! WHY NOT AGAIN!?

On a cheerier note, I hope these guys come out soon. July will prove to be an awesome month for me indeed.

Knowing NECA they will release the "Classic P1" Predator with the closed mandibles or the bio helmet mask. So if you want the Classic P1 with his mouth open youll have to buy this Classic and the the other to get the "Ultimate P1 Classic" lol

Ill probably just get this Classic and call it a day.

Actually, knowing NECA would mean an open mouth P1, they're not going to waste chances to release essentially the same figure extra times to cover costs, I'm sure that's largely why they've made the PREDATORS Classic, where it's just the P1 sculpt reused, it's just one more variant they can make on top of the 2-3 they can do from Predator, it's like how they did the T2:3D figure, large numbers of consumers probably could care less about picking up a figure from a movie you have to go to a theme park to see, but, it's a way to get another figure from pieces they've already made, so why not.

Heh, heh, I just had a thought. What if they'll do a Classic with a battle-damaged mask as a variant? *tears hair out*

There are just so many possibilities, it seems as if all I can do is get every single one at first, then decide which version of each I'd like to keep. Good news is, I doubt we'll see Falconer or Flusher unmasked in the film, so NECA probably won't make variants of those (HT will, as is their nature). But for Berserker, hells yeah. So I guess it's not too much work on my part. At the most, I'll just end up with two or three variants I don't need and can sell off easily, keeping the ones I want.

All righty, NECA. Bring 'em on. I'm ready with a plan...

With NECA, if they think it can sell and it'd take little extra effort to do, they seem to be game for making every little variant of a character they can using mostly recycled parts.

Here is how I think everything will pan out:

PREDATORS Series 1
1. Mr. Black
2. Classic
3. Falconer
PREDATORS Series 2
1. Mr. Black Unmasked
2. Flusher(Tusked right?)
3. Mr. Black BD or Classic BD(Could go either way I feel)
San Diego Comic-Con 2010
1. Mr. Black Half Cloaked
Predator 1 & 2 Series 1
1. Predator 1 Close Mandibles
2. Predator 1 Masked
3. P2 Elder

That is only a guess and I can see where there could be room to add or subtract figures. I hope this is the line up though that takes us to the end of the year into next spring.

Sounds about right; I don't know for sure. Isn't SDCC exclusive will be a completely-cloaked Berserker? Either way, it'd definitely be worth picking up. I think in Predators SERIES 2, we'd get a masked P1, rather than a BD version. That leaves room is Predator 1 & 2 SERIES 1 for a P2.
Man, just thinking about all this makes me realize just how much NECA has in store for us...:yess:

By the way, I just want all of these ASAP. Forget next spring, bring 'em all on! Well, maybe not the P1 and P2 series, but the Predators figures for sure should be finished with by the end of the year. Wonder how much these'll run me. Would packaging have any effect on price? If so, then we might be able to expect at least a good $2-$3 drop on these. The nice news is, these new packaging photos we've seen don't show too many accessories, leaving less of an extra incentive to get each one. Won't make much of a difference to me, as I'll be completely indecisive until I have seen all of them in person.

Packaging I think will keep prices the same. If packaging wasn't changed I would think we would have had a $2-$3 increase. I am going to buy two of each when they come out. that way I have one set on my wall and one to review.

I think I know where they screwed the pooch on Berserker. In reality, he has a dark shiny black-ish skin tone, with occasional red and green bumps/highlights. However, there are yellow cracks between each scale, almost like dust or a sort of thin wash. In other words, the black is the primary tone and the yellow should've been added afterwards. Here, they used yellow as the base first and then painted the darker areas over it. Unfortunately, the dots they made are not big enough to make the yellow spaces seem thin, so it gives off the polka-dot effect.

It's pretty simple... Why didn't they start with the black first? I would've even settled for a crappily-done black w/yellow wash rather than the even crappier spotted patternation we see now. Even if not too much time was taken on it, it'd be a definite improvement.

All of the other Preds are fine, but this issue with Berserker is huge and unlike what anyone would expect from NECA. The only way this could be salvaged without redoing the paintjob would be to have that yellow we see underneath the spots be darker (which it may very well be in person). Maybe like a dark yellow/gray or a yellow/brown, to keep the spots from popping too much.

Well, it seems like NECA's Chinese factories can be a challenge for them to get back product totally up to snuff, I'd imagine in the big scheme, NECA probably has to pick it's battles and fights for better quality on figures they care more about being best of the best and concedes to the factory on figures they feel they can afford to do so with. They may treat the PREDATORS figures as expendable compared to the P1 and P2 stuff, which would be fine with me.
