Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

no offense, but if that's a macro shot, then it's pretty damn fuzzy.

Not necessarily. If his hands are causing any shake more so with macro on it'll be extremely sensitive, it'll blur.

I just recieved an email from HT telling me they have shipped me a new body

When did you get yours? and how much did you pay to ship to Hong Kong? and did you use Royal Mail or a courier?

So, does this mean the upcomming DC Direct batch will have the hard plastic belly?

Indeed.

I got my fig about end Feb start of March time from studio sunny on ebay and it had leaky abs. I emailed HT customer services just before the Ash volcano thing and posted it just before they grounded flights so i had to wait a bit longer for it to be sent - i used royal mail and it cost me £7.50 or summat to post it. they didnt tell me when it would arrive but apparntly its on its way

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

after reading here some more posts and looking at my fig, I've written now a mail to HT and asking for a replacement. Hopefully they will replace it for me too. I've bought it from Studiosunny too, but it was a loose one, so I hope it doesn't make any problems.

Which e-mail address are people using for sending replacement requests please?

I may send one too. Cheers.

ok here are the pics of the neck mod i did for the V1 neck and medi bruce head.

this is the bottom of the V1 neck. in retrospect, i overdid it. now i stuffed it along with the medi bruce head with the foam/sponge from the DX box.

as you can see, i used a big piece of foam/sponge so the head can be attached to the neck. so no articulation, but i don't think i'll be doing any heavy poses for this look. the whole mod is really for scene specificity.
i used medi hands to hold the cowl.

Hey Geil. Check this out. I went back to look and see if my camera had the "flower" mode and it did. Look at the incredible close up I took. Normally this would be real fuzzy.

I call this RIP Batman.

Nice! I love the set up!

And you're not far off from getting the sharpness right. I used to have a Sony Cybershot and I know that you can get what you're looking for.

Most of these have been mentioned already, but there are a few main things that you can do:

1) Use Macro. But that you know already.

2) Keep still! I think the blur in the picture is indeed from movement. I highly recommend buying a little table top tripod, they are pretty cheep (and they have them at Walmart.)

3) Lighting can make a big difference, but I have taken some pretty amazing shots with my cybershot in minimal lighting. The less light you have the less forgiving your picture will be in terms of blur, so keeping the camera still is even more important with minimal lighting. (If you can't get a tripod, try setting the camera up on books.)
Another thought with regard to keeping the camera still: When I take pics with my point and shoot in minimal lighting, in addition to using a tripod, I will also use the timer feature (yes your cybershot has this), so that I am not touching the camera when the shutter opens.

4) Finally, make sure that the camera has time to focus before you take the picture. Both of the digital point and shoot cameras that I have had work like this: you gently push the button half way down, the camera focuses, and then you push it the rest of the way down to take the picture. Do the same thing when using the timer, making sure the camera is focused before you push the button all the way down.

One more thought: your LED view screen will probably tell you if the picture is in focus or not. The camera I have now always has a box in the middle of the screen that is green when I am in focus and red if I am not. Look for something like this.

Most point and shoot cameras can do more than you would imagine. The Sony Cybershot in particular is an awesome camera. It has one of the best lenses on the market, and I miss it.

Here is an example of a Macro pic I took with my Cybershot;

I focused the camera on the Creech's right hand ,pushing the button half way down. Then without letting up on the button I moved the center of the shot to Creech's body. Then I pushed the button down the rest of the way... and I am pretty sure I did use a tripod ans timer feature.

Here's a couple Macro shots taken with my Lumix Panasonic point and shoot:

One could probably do a better/sharper job with a DSLR, but for the casual photographer like myself, I am happy with these kind of results. :)

The gruesome part looks a bit like a chewed up snicker or form of chocolate the way parts are torn away like teeth marks.

It's a zombie line, I think the idea is that her face was eaten off.

You just gave me a real good idea BkW. I need to find myself another V1 neck. Or even a DX neck adapter. I'm sure I'll find one seen enough. Thanks for the pics.

a reminder San...been playing splinter cell conviction a lot lately, so word of advice is, observe, mark, and then execute.

i haven't done much modding b4 and it's still a learning process for me. so i kinda rushed into things. honestly, i think my most successful mod is the DX + medi neck.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Oh I know. I've avoided debilitating mods since I started. Which is why I still call myself a noob. But lately I've been on a customizing kick with all the beautiful head sculpts out there. I'm currently working on a Alfred, Lucius, and Gordon custom. Also thinking about a Lex Luthor custom with a regular suit AND the kryptonite suit (don't know the proper name of that suit he wears to fight Superman with all the different colored kryptonite in his gloves.) So I'm going to try my hand at doing this custom. I have an extra medi body too so I'm going to try and cut out the neck of that and put it in the sanded down V1 or DX neck so that I can still get some articulation in the neck and head. Don't know how I'll pull this off but cross your fingers.

Question to all modders: How much money have you guys spent on parts and ended up f'in up the piece? My biggest worry is how much money I'll spend on parts like, lets say a body, and end up having it be unusable?? Is that a big worry for some of you guys?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Thanks jediknight. It'll look better if I can find an appropriate cowl for Catowman. I'm really not digging the helmet thing. And it'll fit in better with my collection after Jill Valentine comes out.

Let us know what happens with your Catwoman. I've got the black-suited Takara Catwoman as well, and my only complaint is also with the headpiece.

For me, it's more the size of the giant silver goggles (especially on the sides of the helmet) that bother me, rather than the helmet design itself (after all, TDK Batman has got a helmet-like mask). But I'm curious as to what your solution will be...
