Hey,

I am thinking of going to SDCC this year, have never been. The 4-day and 1-day passes are almost sold out. They have thursday passes still available, but I was hoping to spend both Thursday and Friday in the area. Question - do they sell door tickets each day, so even if I can't get a pass for Friday to see the panels and presentations, I could still get in to view displays? Would that even be worth it?

Also, how likely is it that they will have passes available day of the show, since they are almost sold out on the preorders?

Sorry for the newb questions. Like I said, I've never been. Thanks for any info.

They no longer sell passes at the door/during the convention. Your best bet would be to buy your Thursday pass ASAP.

Yep- no way to buy tickets at the door and No- you can't get in to view anything.

Just like CAHobbit wrote: Get your Thurs pass asap and pray to God that you can pick up a Fri on ebay.

At this point you really are better off just not going. You'd get Thursday at this is it. Definately not enough time to do everything. I suppose if you've already got a place to stay and are indeed already going to be in the area it would be worth it, but don't try making it work.

As the others have said, there are no on site passes. Its all done months in advance. Those tickets left on the site it IT!

I don't understand about eBay though..... I looked on the SDCC website and it says that reselling or transferring a membership in strictly prohibited....

Thanks for all the info. I assume the panels are all on different days but they won't announce which when until 2 weeks prior and I am guessing the heavy hitters will be on Friday and Saturday. I agree, it wouldn't be worth traveling (and getting a hotel room Thursday night). Maybe next year.

even a little Comic Con is better than no Comic Con…

In a worst case scenario...you can always volunteer if you miss the passes and want to go THAT badly.

You show up early in the morning and get into the volunteer line...get your schedule (you will have to work for four hours) and you are in for free.

money will always come back... time will not. there are still tickets for sunday.

Like Kuzeh said, either watch their ebay store...

or more so their twitter. They do have tickets on reserve and will be selling them a few weeks prior to the show. I think they're trying to combat the ticket scalping.

Maybe. But also I think they release the cancellations...

:lecture:lecture:lecture...
What sucks is that they give away too many "industry passes" to people that don't really care for the event... last year I saw a ton of people with "Preview night" sticker passes that didn't care at all about it... they got in and out in about an hour and were instead drinking beers outside.

Great - less crowded for us!

Anyone want to comment on the new hotel method? Beats last year I guess, but it's a real pain not knowing right away what you got.

I hate it. Don't trust it at all. I already know of at least one person who got their confirmation email within minutes, and she didn't get on there until it had been open nearly an hour. I had mine submitted within the first 10-15 minutes and have received NOTHING, so far. It seems totally random and arbitrary, which sucks.
