Kyle, can you offer any insight into the referencing and sculpting process on the P1 figure? I have always found the P1's helmet to be its most intriguing and visually fascinating design, and you're the first artist to NAIL its look. i've be en tweeting Randy too thanking you and Sam as well as Jason for your work on this and the T2 line.

I had to rush the mask some but I feel real good that it's pretty much dead on. I have really good pics of the old prop at Winstin's place and a guy 20 years ago took some great pics for my bro Shawn Nagle. Great stuff really the best I would say. Thanks about liking the stuff we're doing and I would say Jason did such a great job on the Predator's gun. We really wanted to get it right and I've never seen not even one Predator figure get his backpack dead on. I think we got ours very close. Even the SS figure is a scan of the new backpack that was remade for the new SW prop. The old one is history. After all this I'm a little fatigued with Predator stuff but I know Predator2 is still waiting. The McFarlane figure is not worthy and should've been way better.

I just hope that the final figure will be as exact as the P1 and it would be nice if these things would be done better (the feet, too :lol)
it's just supposed to give you a little help ^^

Do you have an idea what fans can do to help that neca makes an 18'' Predator?
For example write on Necaonline that an 18'' version would be very interesting.

I know it's always best to do things dead on but we have to cut some cost here and there. For example I know the crotch area looks different on the Elder because he doesn't have the leather stuff. To keep tooling down I think we'll just keep it the way it is. I know it's not dead on that way but the boss is going to freak out when he finds out the cost on these. Randy and myself are trying to make him happy with a little give and take here and there.

The Alien and Predator line is phenomenal. I'll buy every single figure in every scale from 7", 12", and 18". These really are the figures I always wanted back in the McFarlane Movie Maniacs days and it's great to finally get them.

I know it probably isn't going to happen, but a lot of people were very unhappy with the Hot Toys versions of the Aliens, and I think collectors would love to have NECA version of the Aliens Warrior and Big Chap by in the 12" scalen as well.

Hey tankman (aka predator king)
can you fill us in a little, on the new predators figures, from the up coming movie, are they going to look as cool as p1 and p2 predators?
scale with them, bigger , etc ??

kyle, tell us about the body netting on the p1 figure, is it real netting?, vinyl netting? or will it be sculpted on?
thanks.,

Funny thing is it's from the store. Sam bought some grapefruit and we took the netting and made it thicker with paint. We'll see how it will trurn out.

I like like them a lot but we'll have to see them on film. The head is really something to look forward too. Very mean and nasty. These Predators are more monster like and it's all about how they are in the movie. I think P1 and 2 are the best to me. Randy loves the new ones and some of the guys at work didn't at first but they're starting to warm up to them. They will be great toys for sure and I'm looking forward to seeing them painted. For me however the Stan Winston Predators are the best. It's cool though they went with something that's different this time. Mr. Blacks face is very scary looking and I get to start on it this week. I like all the Predators so far except AVP 1.
I can't wait to see what fans think and I'm feeling like we're going to get a good movie this time.

On my opinion AVP 1 Predators were the best, the shiny armors and the muscles made them look a bit like super heroes, bad super heroes:D

Will there be AVP 1 Predators by Neca? Those by McFarlane were very good but not perfect.

Could you put real netting and bands on arms and legs on the final Predator figure like on the prototypes(at least the 14" or 18" Predator).

Just before i start writing: i do not want to criticize you, i know that you have to do what you are told to do.

I wish there would be a Elder Predator which is as brilliant as your P1 Predator :bow

I understand that companys like Neca have to produce cost-effective.
But in my opinien, these policies aren't good for the consuments. For example, Neca could make a more expensive deluxe version with all 3 heads and not 3 different versions. That's usury.
I hope you can do some important details on the Elder better, if you didn't, yet. Didn't you say that the figure ist not final and you worked on it (Dreadlooks, Gauntlets)? These little details (Head painting, hand in which he holds the weapon, the second necklace) are really important and would make the figure wonderful!.
A little higher price would not be a problem for Consuments/Fans.
And i think that for many people, Neca products are alternatives to the high priced Hot Toys figures(your Predator sculpt is better than the HT). There surely are many other ways to cut costs and make fans happy, maybe Lost Predators based on the original Predator sculpt.

Have you no ideas what fans can do to help that neca makes an 18'' Predator? :-(

I had no notion that we'd ever see a smaller scale P2 Elder predator figure at all, I was just amazed to see one on display. So I think I can accept a couple of cost-cutting innaccuracies on it. The essence, more than the essence really, is there. Even with a few errors or omissions its a massive step up from the Predators McFarlane made - just go back and look at the dreadlocks on those things - awful. I don't know if there was some reason they had to do them like that or what but they looked nothing like the appearance, length & thickness or sit of the dreads on the film creatures. This is a key characteristic of all Predators and the McFarlane figures botched it utterly. As long as the elders dreads are suitably aged and his face looks right I'll be happy.

I think some of the things people are expecting out of NECA, with the T2 line and the Predator line, are beyond a realistic expectation from them. It seems like people are expecting Hot Toys handling of making figures and striving for every unique detail.

NECA is a low end toy maker that happens to make fairly nice figures for what $15 will get you, but they're still a Toys R Us level quality, they are not geared towards the scrutinizing type of collector base like Hot Toys is, they care to those people as well as the 15 year old kid who can't afford Hot Toys and might want something cooler than you get out of Hasbro or Mattel. This means recycling parts and releasing multiple figures with minor differences to capitalize on the costs of the molds as much as possible and things like that.

I like NECA's products and collect them, but I know there will always be limits to what they can do and offer.

Let's see, your ideas are charging a higher price AND cut costs...:duh

Look, just be glad that NECA is even able to do these. I'm sure part of the reason they can is because people bought all of the different versions of the Wolf Pred they put out. That would allow for a larger budget for Predator figures. Now, if people buy the different versions of these Preds, NECA may be able to increase the budget for other figures people want...like a Queen Alien.

I have no 'expectations' as such. I do have fervent hopes. Hopes that certain characters and certain versions of characters will be made. If recycling of parts has to be done to achieve those I'm fine with that. Luckily in the case of the T2 line so far that hasn't resulted in unfortunate innaccuracies as seems to be the case on the P2 Elder predator. Perhaps a further wave of T2 figures featuring the biker cop T-1000 would involve production of too many new parts as far as NECAs budget is concerned although my suggestions have always accounted for some recycling on those hypothetical new parts and with some of the 'old' parts from the yet to be released 3rd series.

As far as 'collector scrutiny' NECAs figures in Terminator and Predator are holding their own against HT, even topping the higher-end company.

I have high hopes that we'll get a larger scale version of this Predator sculpt 18" or perhaps 12". Either way I want to have every version of this awesome figure. It's really amazing. I also don't have a problem with having to buy different figures in order to have all the head sculpts. I prefer to display all versions if possible and these figures are pretty affordable so that's not a problem. It would be really great to have an 18" scaled Predator facing of against the giant Alien. I'm really hoping it happens.

I've got my fingers crossed for the Queen and Dog Alien as well.

a-dev, hope you didn't think I was coming down on you, because I think you have a good and realistic understand of NECA.

The T2 line has done ok with recycling because there's enough variations to the characters to do it and just have multiples. While the P2 Elder is a unique Predator, at its roots, it is a rehash of the P1, even on film. While the hardcores can point out small variations, to NECA, he's a P1 variant. I'd even say NECA wouldn't even make the P2 Elder if it weren't for the fact that they can, though innaccurrate, recycle most of the P1 with a different paint job and some small variations and have another figure to sell with little extra costs to put it out there. I know people have hopes of the Lost Predators too, but unless they can also be derived from the P1 or P2 molds, or among themselves share a large number of parts, I doubt it'll happen.

We're not getting a P2 Elder because NECA wants to put it out, we're getting it because it's more money to make off the work to make the P1, just like them putting out a figure of T-800 from T2:3D, there's not much point to it other than more money to make off work already done.

A lot of Predator fans don't like the AVP look all that much. Even ADI told me they were unhappy with them. I remember the audience laughed when the Predator took off his mask. I haven't heard anything about doing those Predators. It wouldbe cool to do them anyway. They would make cool toys

I think with their proportions adjusted, just like the HT versions, they look awesome as well and I love their overall look. I know it's not popular opinion to say you like them but there's gotta be a reason all of them still go for such high prices.

I personally don't like how they looked on film. Way too bulky for me.

But, I've seen sculpts (such as Narin's) of Scar, Celtic and Chopper that are slimmer and look FANTASTIC. I'd love figures of them if they looked more like that.
