Congrats Supes, its more then what your last movie made right?

It's funny people don't say this kind of thing about "Batman Begins" when it had practically the same domestic gross and actually trailed "Superman Returns" by a good chunk of change worldwide.

Actually, now that I look at the comic/cover, what the hell is he doing? Looks like he's wrecking the place more than saving anyone. Why's he trashing The Cleaver's VW? The people around him are running away from him out of fear.

Superman - the first domestic terrorist.

I actually read some of this issue... the guys in the pic are the criminals he was chasing... first supes beat down:chew

Back in the 80's when I still collected comics, and before CGC grading, I actually got to hold an Action #1 and a Detective #27 (first Batman)! It was awe inspiring at the time... now days, I probably wouldn't care that much.

Amazing what some things are worth. In the article it talks about 100 known copies in existence, anyone know how many were originally released?

Just curious to know how many have been lost or disappeared over the years?

I bet they printed off quite a few thousand... we are really lucky that any of the survive in this shape

Wikipedia says "Batman Begins" made a gross of $497 million, while "Superman Returns" made a gross of $391 million.

On top of that, "Batman Begins" cost $150 million to make, while "Superman Returns" cost $209 million. Granted, some of that money was spent on other attempts at reboots, but money spent is money spent, whether it shows up in the final product or not.

Assuming wikipedia's numbers are correct, "Batman Begins" should've made about $165 million MORE than "Superman Returns" - hardly "trailing it by a good chunk of change."

Additionally (though this is only anecdotal evidence), I seem to remember a lot more marketing for "Superman Returns" than "Batman Begins." Batman was more under-the-radar, at least as far as advertising (and thus marketing expenses) went.

I remember when Begins came out Warners were really disappointed with the box office, and for a few weeks we had 'we'll wait and see before we decide on a sequel' type comments.

I was never a fan of Begins - it is okay but all that ninja stuff bored me.

I remember when Begins came out I was really disapointed. Especially with all the praise it got. I liked Superman Returns more although it dragged on 20 minutes too long and didn't have a very clear ending.
