Is it a level in the game or a bonus level that you can play whenever you want?

Like Darth Caedus said.. it's just bonus rooms immediately accessed from the main menu so it's not like you're missing anything story wise if you only have the 360 version like me. It's not DLC like GTA4 which is supposed to have new missions within the game world with new stories, etc. If it were, then yeah that would suck for us 360 owners.

BioShock film pre-production halted

Worries over a $160 million budget has caused Universal to order work halted on big-screen version of 2K's undersea classic, reports Variety.

Over the weekend, Variety delivered some unwelcome news to those looking forward to the BioShock film. According to the Hollywood trade, Universal Pictures has ordered work stopped on the project, announced last May. Apparently the sticking point was the film's ballooning $160 million budget, which is now being revisited by Universal and director Gore Verbinski (The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, The Mexican).

Firing some of splicer members of the film crew proved challenging.
"We were asked by Universal to move the film outside the US to take advantage of a tax credit," Verbinski told Variety. "We are evaluating whether this is something we want to do. In the meantime, the film is in a holding pattern." London is apparently a leading candidate for the production's new location.

Written by John Logan (Gladiator, Star Trek: Nemesis), the big-screen BioShock was initially planned for release alongside a third BioShock game. However, with BioShock 2 not due out until later this year, the movie's release was brought forward to summer 2010--a move which forced Verbinski to pass on directing a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean.

The fact Verbinski turned down such a lucrative gig to direct BioShock is a good indicator of his commitment to the project. Both the director and Universal reps told Variety that the work stoppage--and a few subsequent crew-member layoffs--do not mean the film is canceled, but merely delayed. Specifically, they promised it would not suffer the same fate as the Halo film, which is now on indefinite hold following similar budget concerns.

If they have a well-written story and visuals that rival or exceed the game, I think it could... but then again, it probably won't. :lol

Don't get me wrong, I think that if the movie captures only a little iota of the art direction/design and tone the game had, it will be a fantastic movie. But make $160 MILLION....not too sure.

The one major problem with translating any video game into a movie is the story line... most games are kind of linear, with movement from point a to point b to point c, to complete the game, and that is sometimes hard to convert into a proper story.

I can care less about the film. The first was awesome..I'm actually replaying through it again, and the second is on it's way. It's a good time to be a BioShock fan.

I think its good news, I don't think this Pirates guy is right for the film tbh, and if it ends up like Doom, i'd be really discouraged.

The thing BioShock is such fertile ground for a great story. From the art deco style to the engrossing story, to the awesome baddies, and lively characters. The movie should just drip with style.

Style is good, but substance is more important, and I'm sure most people are worried about how that translates onto film.

Sorry to bump this back up, but I was late to the party. I just got a PS3 a couple of weeks ago, and man, the people who made this game are absolute geniuses :D. Only up to the 3rd level, but damn, this game is something else. Hopefully the 2nd game will be just as, if not better.

So I decided to replay this on Hard to finish off all the achievements and it didn't give me the "Brass Balls" achievement. :cuss

Whenever I died I re-loaded from a previous save point so as not to continue from a Vita Chamber but appearantly there's a glitch. You have to Turn Off the Vita Chambers in the settings even if you don't use them. :banghead

So now I'm one achievement short 50/51 and I'm not doing this all over again since Bioshock 2 will be out next week.

Hmmmmm......I'm trying to do this as well and I don't see any place where you can turn it off. From what I've read, if you save often enough, you can die, then reload a previous save and can still get this. I'm still in Neptune's Bounty on Hard (games a _____ on Hard), but I'll finish it and see if I get the same.

Yeah, let us know how it goes on hard... I wanted to try for that achievement as well, but it will have to wait until later. Right now, I'm going through on easy just to get the weapon upgrade, tonics, inventions, and diary achievements.
