well, i never thought i'd be doing it but i finally decided to upgrade my DVD collection to the blu ray dvd's, or at least whats available so far. i made the choice after getting my 50" HDTV and saw the difference in qaulity between regular DVD's and the blu ray. i didnt have a gigantic collection of hundreds of movies, so it shouldnt be that much to upgrade. i traded in all my DVD's that i know are on blu ray already to FYE for credit, and so far i was able to get a good amount of my movies. last night i just got the Batman Anthology set on blu ray, along with Rambo: first blood part 2 and Terminator 2 "skynet edition". the other week i got the 3 "pirates of the caribean" movies, indiana jones 4, Rambo 3, robin hood prince of theives and Ghosbusters, and the i gotta say, of all the movie so far, ive seen "curse of the black pearl" and i am just awe stricken at the sharpness and clarity of the film on my HDTV. no wonder they promoted that blu ray so much in stores, the movie looks beyond incredible. the older movies like rambo 3 and ghosbusters also look great. not as clear and crisp in quality like newer movies, but still great nevertheless, the best ive ever seen them. the rambo movies imparticular look amazing, especially with al the explosions. indiana jones and the crystal skull looks GREAT as well. even the older batman movies looked great! batman returns looks the best in HD. i want to either get the matrix trilogy or the rocky movies next on blu ray.

and btw, dont mean to be a hater but i HATED "the thing". most disgusting movie EVER. rented it last year....omg, i wanted to vomit. never watching that AGAIN. i dont get the reason why its so popular with cult fans.

I love The Thing, the newer one and the old one. The original version might be more up your tree.

You must not like horror movies if you don't like this. The Thing is tame compared to alot of horror movies.

Yea, the Thing is a classic horror flick and perhaps the finest remake ever created. Although technically it's not a remake...

It's great, and the blu-ray is a massive step up from the dvd, first it's anamorphic, let alone the blu-ray's colors and sharpness. Great.

sorry i just thought it was repulsive. yeah i did hear about the 50's version, yeah my favorite horror movies are ussually old ones. one of the only "modern" horror movies i like would be Sleepy Hollow, but thats it really. mostly i like thrillers and that sort of thing, todays horror movies are way too needlessly graphic, and the thing is right up there with the worst of them. honestly, i dont find anything scary about seeing human anatomy, its the thrills and suspense and atmosphere that creeps me out more. i mean, i liked halloween and the fog, but the thing was just UGH. hated it. especially when the dogs died in the kennel, i was about to pass out it was so horrible and terrible to watch. best horror movies for me are the OLD ones with vincent price, peter lorre, christopher lee, etc. those were the bomb, not these newer slasher boody messes that pass for "horror" today and the last 30 years.

btw, LOL at indy with the soda. my sig on rebelscum is indy on a tauntaun.

I understand exactly what your saying here but honestly I personally think " The Thing " has all of those. One of the best horror movies ever made imo. Some of the scenes are very tense and the movie has a very edge of your seat vibe to it.
I remember crapping it the first time watching the scene where there testing the blood samples !. :horror
If thats not horror I don't know what is. Sure the gore can be over the top but at the end of the day its a horror about an alien that basically rips you apart and becomes you. :lol

I'm a person who could watch the most horrific thing in a movie ( as long as it isn't real ) and not be phased at all though so I guess its all about what effects you and what doesn't.
Do you not think the gore in RAMBO and maybe even the other two first blood sequels was a little overboard ?.

I'll be picking up Zombieland Monday @ midnight @ my local NE Ohio Walmart.....:D

Fo show....I will be getting this.
