I really want some 1:6 Ghostbusters, but man, I just can't get over how bad those look. It's not just the headsculpts. The outfits are the wrong color, and they look so bulky, as if they're all wearing winter coats underneath.

I'm not sure I can afford to buy these at this point (annoyingly), but if/when I do? ...These are the guys I want. Winston always seemed like an add-on to the story, like he wasn't supposed to be there initially. To me, and this goes back to when I first saw the film... the ghostbusters? are the 3 guys we see from the start of the film.

thats the story tho darren, he wasnt supposed to be there initially, until they get swamped with work so they employ another to join the team..so in a way he was an add on as he was employed later when the business took off, but in my opinion hes a part of the team, and i think a more important part than what ppl think.

yeah thats 1 reason why i had already gotten some dragon flight suits awhile back, they jst look better fitted on a 1/6 body.

this suit may look ok when all the little bits around it are changed, i.e. the crap plastic belt, gloves, boots, elbow pads

i might hvae a go at doin one of those pp plug ins mike, because id prefer to use paypal ifi could. after reading it i assume u registed ur debit card with the pypal plugin part andf then that gives u a number thats like a credit card so u can use that instead of the debit card number.

Does Mattycollector accept Paypal? I hope so. I have money in my Paypal account, but not on my credit card. :(

Please let me know tonight.

Thanks!

I found it. The only way Mattycollector accepts Paypal is by signing up on Paypal for the Paypal Plug-In. It is free, and you have to have a confirmed shipping address...AND...verify a bank account. Here's a link to Mattycollector's FAQ page...

Verifying the bank account is sadly, a problem for me.

The role of winston was orginally written for Eddie Murphy and in the original script he was there from the very start along with other members of the ghostbusters. Its just when Murphy couldn't do it(filming beverly hills cop at the time) that role was cut down and rewritten so he didn't come in half way through the script. Winstons role is to represent the voice of the 'everyday man' i.e the guy who doesn't neccessarily buy into the whole idea but does it for the money hence the line 'ifs theres a steady paycheck in it i'll believe anything you say'

According to the script winston was a former marine before he became employed with the ghostbusters.

I can't remember exactly where I read it, but I believe Eddie Murphy was originally cast for the part, and I think he was supposed to be in it from the beginning. Not sure if I have the facts right, but I think he backed out when they made some changes and trimmed his screen time to unacceptable levels (for Eddie, who was very popular at the time), and Ernie was asked to fill the role... which he did quite admirably, imho.

I've often wondered what Ghostbusters would have been like if Eddie had played Winston's part, but I think Ernie Hudson turned out to be the perfect man for the part. The team just wouldn't be complete without him.

Edit: Nuts, you guys both beat me to it! I had forgotten about the other movie he was involved with at the time. "Well that's what I heard."

I don't know about these suits, now that I look at them again. They look really thick and cheap. I think I might be keeping my tan Prison Break jumpsuits, even though they're inaccurate.

I'm going to wait until I see Ray's in hand. I have some plans for customization, so I'll see if that works. Otherwise, I'll have to grab some Dragon Flight Suits or something...

I would love to have seen what Eddie Murphy's participation would have done to the overall movie.

Seems like a great opportunity lost, at least back then when Murphy was funny. He may have stolen the movie.

The suits still aren't perfect, but I thought they looked a lot better in the recent reviews that sprang up compared to Comic-Con photos.

It's like anything I guess. A little water treatment, maybe some slight tailoring...It's really no different than getting an SW figure from SS.

That's what I thought too when I first heard about it. Eddie was a riot on Saturday Night Live back in the day, still some of the funniest stuff ever aired, imo. He was a master of ad lib... it would've been especially interesting to see what kind of chemistry there might've been between Eddie and Bill Murray's wise-cracking character.

Eddie could have gone either way. 1) making it better or 2) completely ruining it. I'm not sure.

I personaly believe though that if Belushi was in it instead of Bill Murray that the movie would have completely sucked donkey balls.

the thing is...we will never knw what it would have been like if belushi and murphy had been in it because we are used to the version we knw and love. it would jst be totaly different if those 2 were in it instead, weird really thinking what if tho

I'm new to the 12" arena, and have never done any customizing...what specific jumpsuits are people recommending to use?

Eddie Murphy was pretty much on fire back then so I can't see how he would have ruined it. We're not talking "Norbit"-era Eddie here.

For what it's worth we have "Ghostbusters" which was fine without Murphy and we have "Beverly Hills Cop" which is a certifiable classic so things worked out alright in the end, I just don't think it's really appropriate to treat Murphy's involvement as some volatile and uncertain prospect when he was at the height of his comedic ability and popularity.
