Who shoots themselves over a movie? I mean I cant really think of any reason why he did it there....
everyone's a critic?
i dunno. maybe he took something too literally... or not literally enough.
either way, this is destined to spawn many inappropriate and hilarious jokes at his expense.

Do you really think he shot himself over a movie?

Since he had a gun, he obviously already planned to shoot himself. If he wanted more attention though, he should have went to a movie that lots of people would have been in like Faster and Furiouser 4.

Did the guy have a long beard and pewter rings on his fingers?

I think Moore would have been the type to have dynamite strapped to himself.

Would have been interesting if it was during the love-making scene on the owl ship; just hear this guy sob, "There is no god," stand up, and pull the trigger.

I would be immensely appreciative if you enumerated all of the straw men fallacies in those two posts.

Well we could start with this:

"There are plenty of fans who were unhappy, and I wager that it's the immense affection that they have for the GN that made it difficult to see past the alterations made for the film."

...which you bizarrely wrote despite pages and pages of contributions from people who disliked the film expressly stating the alterations were not the reason.

You've spent the entire thread treating the opinions of those who liked the movie as base and immediately endeavoring to find fault in their points of view rather than admitting that there was anything of value to be had aside from, "you're entitled to your opinion, but here are nine idiosyncratic reasons why you are wrong."

You'll get over it.

Well, considering that a straw man is a false form of argumentation when you distort another individual's argument into a weak and spurious point not being alleged, for the sole purpose of creating and easily knocking down a "straw man", that quote doesn't even fall into the denotation considering it was a stipulation based on personal experience of interaction with fans rather than an attempt to alter an opposing party's pov. Interestingly from the "pages and pages" I've read it seems to be a healthy balance of that and a dislike of Snyder's personal style. 291 pages now, there's a healthy mix.

You'll get over it.

Nothing to get over, really. Just pointing out the fatuous.:D

Oh please. It's a classic straw man - and a flagrantly obvious one at that considering you posted it in a thread featuring several posts that directly contradict the assertion. But you go right ahead and argue with phantoms instead of things people are actually saying if it's so important to you. It's just a movie, dude.

I'm having a hard time believing that anyone really likes this movie.

:lol:rotfl:lol You need to read up, friend. It was a general observation, not argumentation. If I bothered to distort a proposition made by anyone in order to weaken a point of view and refute it instead of dealing with said argument in any fashion, then you'd be right. Made a statement about people I actually know personally rather than message board chat, but it's nice to know that when presented with a dead horse you will readily swarm upon it with a cudgel.

I'll leave it at that; in the words of the sage Professor Farnsworth, "I'm bored! Let's Go!" And I'd rather not pollute the post about this movie with banter that has nothing to do with it any longer.

It's just a movie, dude.

Funny.

Haven't seen Wolverine yet, so I can't speak to where I thought it crashed and burned, but it doesn't seem to be pretending to be anything aside from brainless entertainment in the trailers. Bastardization of Deadpool aside I'm just expecting explosions and ludicrous fights.
