I'm getting both Hellboy and Abe. Hopefully they continue with some of the other characters.

:lol Hot Toys will never take as much heat as Sideshow when it comes to 1:6... because they blow them out of the water in quality, engineering and attention to detail. Sorry, that's just how it is. And you know what? Many at Sideshow themselves would agree.

The question shouldn't be "Why is Hot Toys doing these instead of Sideshow"... it should be Why doesn't Hot Toys just do all of the 1:6 figures that Sideshow offers?

:rock :rock :rock

yep hot toys should do sideshows figures. That way sideshow can work on what they do best and make statues and hot toys can do what they do best and make figures with more freedom and licenses.

I am happy that HT will be releasing the 12-inch Hellboy and Abe Sapien. Not because I am getting these but because I can hopefully get the SS's version of Hellboy from eBay on the cheap once these HT releases hit the market! ;)

More than a year I was dreaming about a truly amazing Hellboy 1/6 figure.
It's so great that this happens.
Now I will hope that we also will see Johann, Nuada & of course the Wink. I don't like movie at all, but I always like HB movie characters very much.

Agreed 110% except THE DEAD, no better body for the Zombies than the BUCK. :lol

:lecture This is very true. But I do also believe that... while they are currently hugely popular... the DEAD figures are more of a fad than the other major licenses and at some point will die down. Especially if Sideshow continues their annoying shenanigans with variants. But, sure... they can continue doing Zombie figures on the Buck. Just let Hot Toys handle the big boys.

Does HT just have the Hellboy II license? Meaning no chance of a Kroenen or anything just from the first film?

Wow, this is the most dead on 1/6 figure I've seen. Hot Toys is on a roll!

OK, it's a little hard to read because the text is so small. There's not a lot in the content of the article that you can't figure out from the pictures, but here are a few tidbits:

I can't make out most of the text under the crouching Hellboy picture, but it sounds like it may be a normal true-type body covered with a rubber skin, rather than the usual muscle body.

It sounds like Abe's goggles are removable. They have "half cut lenses" to simulate the water inside.

The release date is given as May 2009, with a price of 24,000 yen (around $240!). Of course, these details may be very different for the US release.
