To answer the threads question I do but only by younger immature relatives, after a couple of slaps opinions can be altered. I've never had anyone come in my collectible room and not have their jaws drop!

we all have had different experience.
most of my friends i hang out with collect like myself. others instead collecting, drink alcohol and try to pick woman up at clubs every frickin night...there the ones that say my collections are cool ,but then again think i am a loser for doing what i like to do..so anymore i just don't tell anyone whati like to do in my spare time...
to be honest i don't have problems picking up woman...i like my girlfriends not drunk and able to spell there names..

I have a collection of fake skulls, one of which is a dragon skull. I once had someone lecture me about "not giving in to the darkness" or some such crap because they thought it was a goat skull. Probably the strangest reaction I've ever gotten from someone... to have them think I worship the devil. Eh!
Other than that the reactions I get from friends, family and strangers isn't that interesting... either just "Cool!" or "Ew!"

I've never had anyone laugh or say something negative about my SSC collection.
My significant other likes the fact that they make great conversation pieces...even her mother likes 'em!

No body laughs. Largely because I am unstable and lash out violently. My friends are understanding and know I take my collection seriously. What gets said behind my back is another story I am sure.
However, my wife laughs at me all the time, ^^^^er!

They dont laugh but I know alot of my friends dont see the attraction nor really appreciate it the way I do
Which is fine, Ive 1 friend thats into comics and they do get it
Collectings for me really, no one else per se
That said I doubt Id still be collecting (well collecting as much as I do) if I didnt customise alot
Customising has maintained my enthusiasm for collecting
Everyones got their reasons for collecting, if youve got friends that laugh at you and call you names for your interests then
1. They arent as open minded as Im guessing youd like them to be
2. They didnt consider your feelings when they reacted the way they did
It might not be their thing, fair enough, at least you have an unusual and varied interest ?
What are your friends into ?

Yes. Slapping is necessity when dealing with collectibles. I mean don't voilence and collecting coincide?

you know don't get me wrong. going to bar and picking up woman is nice. i go and do this too.But not every night.oh and yeah i was dating someone who knew i collected and she was not very fond of it. she would laugh at me. so maybe i am just trying to find someone who collects to or excepts that i have a cool hobbie..
