We thrive on having our backs to the wall, come from behinds are almost more a norm for the Sox, it sucks as fan having to wait until the very last out of the game, but that's how they get. Tampa's good, if we're going to win it'll be a fight.

They shouldn't have had Pedroia run, let Papi get out, give Youk a chance, he may have gotten a 2 run homer, now he might get a homer but it'll only be 1 run.

The problem is that Tito called for a Hit-and-Run. If Papi had simply not swung, it would have been Ball 4 with runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 Out. But, alas...

Now Tito dicks us by refusing to pinch hit for Varitek with 2 runners on and 2 Outs. ^^^^ing moron. :banghead

We are now 6 outs away from going home (again).

Congrats Tampa, I'm sure they'll win the World Series too.

Sox fought so hard to get to tonight and they played tonight like they did game 2-4 :banghead

Lots of off-season work to be done, we need a catcher that can hit. I love Tek for what he does for the club, but he's a liability on the field now, he can't hit and he's coming up too often in need a hit situations.

There's still 1 more inning. :lecture

And the ^^^^tiest part of our lineup. Anything can happen I suppose, but I'd rather have had the last inning end with Papi and have Drew and Bay the first 2 up in the 9th instead of Bay, Kotsay and Tek.

I love how the commentators keep talking about the threat of Ortiz, he's hitting .154, he blows this post season, and Tek, .053, WTF, shoulda pinch hit Cash.

Congrats to the Rays. Deserved it more then we did. :clap :bow

And to Francona: ^^^^ YOU, YOU STUPID ^^^^ING MORON! :emperor

To Varitek: Either retire, or get the ^^^^ out of Beantown.

See you all next year.

I was hoping the Sox were going to win it. Hopefully next year, when we have a healthy team.

Congrats to the Tampa Bay organization and especially to a local guy from my area, Rocco Baldelli on the winning the ALCS. They deserved it and I wish them luck against the Phillies in the World Series.

My 2009 Plan for the Sox

Beckett, find the ^^^^ing magic again.

Papi, get your swing back or retire

Tek, find a new position with the club, step down as main catcher

Acquire a new shortstop, Cora's so-so, Lowrie needs more seasoning in Pawtuckett and Lugo sucks Donkey nuts

Timlin, retire

Wakefield, move to the bullpen

Typical Boston fan......Thanks for what you did for the team in the past....now get the ^^^^ out. unbelievable.

Congrats Rays fans!

Oh, piss off. It actually has as much (or more) to do with off-the-field stuff as it does the fact that he's brutal at the plate and a defensive liability now.

I love people who cite "typical Boston fan" but don't really know what they're talking about.

Anyway, again.... congrats to the Rays!

Yeah, but the Sox need Varitek at least for next season....who else is out there on the free agent market this year or who can step in from the farm system...

It's not as though he's having minor struggles, I've defended Tek the last 2 years, but this year, even I'm dissappointed with him, he's had a great run, but I think he needs to realize that he doesn't have it to be on the field, but he's very smart, I hope he stays with the club as a coach or something, he's got a lot of great knowledge to share, let him train Cash.

Kevin Cash, he's gotta step up sometime. Sox have invested in him, you can't count on Varitek forever, the assumption is they acquired Cash to take the reigns one day.

Cash isn't going to get it done as a starting major league catcher. His numbers are very similar to Tek. I'd assume have David Ross take over if that was the case.

That may be so, but other than working with pitchers one could make the case that Cash is already at least as good as Varitek is at this point. He certainly has a better bat and is better defensively.

Varitek is also going to want a huge contract through his agent Scott Boras, aka Satan. He might... MIGHT have one more season left in him, but that's it. And his affair with the NESN chick (resulting in the dissolution of his marriage) isn't helping his rep in Boston much, either. It's time for him to go.

LOL...And I love people who show NO loyalty to NO ONE.
Plus, you sit here second guessing a manager who has won multiple championships while you type on a meaningless message board. It's easy to second guess sitting where you are...isn't it?

Yeah, of course it is. Have I said otherwise? So what? :huh

And there is no such thing as "loyalty" in professional sports anymore when it comes to individual players, coaches, etc. How anyone could see otherwise in this day and age of free agency and ridiculous contracts is beyond me.

For fans, it should now be about the TEAM above and beyond all else. I know it is for me.
