Like making a good film?
But I'm cautiously optimistic - very cautiously:eek: - if Favreau is showrunner.

He must have something in mind, same as he did with the original Mandalorian concept, or he wouldn't bother.

And this IS the man who gave us Iron Man and the Mandalorian - on the one hand vaulting a second tier comic character to a household name, and a new character in the world of SW (that WASN'T a Skywalker zzzzzzzzzz)
the same.

There's so much possibility here for a decent arc whether it leads to Rey or not - more Boba/Fennec bro action; Grogu having to face the Dark Side; more planets (still luv the Halo ring planet); Cobb Vanth.

Seeing a Mythosaur in IMAX? Yeah, I'd go for that. There's still shots from Mando and Boba I wish I'd seen on a theater screen. Not gonna throw it out yet.

Yeah but he's also the man who gave us Mando Season 3, so...

I can’t see this performing well at the box office. P

Opportunity for some possible cool toys.

Mando will mostly certainly get new armor/weapons. Also if there are flashbacks to his "origins" we might get a wide range of cool Mandalorian troops, marines, armor, etc, etc.

There's a subset of Star Wars collecting, albeit smaller obviously, that does custom Mandalorian warriors. I'm happy for them. This is basically Xmas morning for them as new figures/releases will mean more part outs which will restock their larder of parts.

IMHO, as a hobbyist/collector, my first priority is cool toys. If it's a great film with great toys then awesome. Can't ask for more. If it sucks but we great toys anyway, then that's a decent consolation prize ( at least we all here have that, non collectors get jack #### don't they....) If it sucks and the toys suck, then that's where I find the situation totally unforgiveable.

Also this film might be the moment when they decide to do a stunt cameo and bring Mace Windu back.

I'm surprised they didn't save this for Star Wars Celebration, but after the disastrous PR surrounding the Rey flick, the timing of this announcement feels like damage control. If they'd announced this after the Mando Season 2 finale, I'd have been chomping at the bit this film, but now I greet this news with a resounding "meh".

This seems like an effort to push attention away from all the flack DIZ-LFL has been getting about the Rey movie (that no one asked for). They killed Fav's long term plans for D+ SW by firing Carano over texts that the current crop of "creatives" (very loose usage here) and their antics make look like a polite burp at a high-society function.

They've dug themselves a hole with the constant stream of subpar, preachy product and now are expecting a "Hail Mary" pass from the guy they ran out of the company? Weird and bizarre to say the least. I sense a very large payday and big dev deal for the Fav here.

I want to give Fav the benefit of the doubt, but considering what's up with SW content before and after this movie, the hope is pretty dim. This rushed, out of the blue announcement has more than just a whiff of desperation. How could this movie end up being anything more than an attempt to sell more Grogu toys and Mando high-end figures? What could the story be? If it plays into any of the currently running Filoni-verse, well, never mind. Wouldn't waste a night on the town for that.

One thing that could REALLY make interest and buzz for this blast off is....Cara Dune returns! Now that would put butts in the seats.

But with the current regime in charge, hell will freeze over first. Nah, SW is still as dead as it was last week.

Ok, here me out...

Din and Grogu are retired, happy to be living the quiet life, farming away on their modest plot of land. But then one day, the Empire arrives asking for grain that the boys simply cannot supply. They decide to head to Mos Eisley to gather up a gang of mercenaries to help them fight back.

I knew we’d be seeing more of the Vespa gang, including the bloke with the eye patch who does the cool spin before firing his gun. Come to think of it, there’s loads of cool spins and twists in Star Wars now when you consider Reva in that roof-top chase scene too.

Mando s3 was a roaring success, so this is a natural continuation of that storytellling. I can’t wait.

Yep. No denying. And there is a whiff of desperation here. But, I'd like to think Favreau - who seems more grounded than Filoni - hears and learns. Like the Lizzo debacle. He gave us S2 Episode 1 which was jaw-dropping + Cobb Vanth. Getting Carano back (if) would be an amazing bonus. He's got a background in big splashy comic book stuff.

So IMO it may not completely suck, overall. LOL tho guess that's not a ringing endorsement "it won't completely suck":lol. Man, these past years media has ground me into the dirt....

The steady diet of stale pork rinds and knockoff soda e.g. one pitiful fail after another from Mando sitting out his own series, to Rings of Power, to the MCU and DC, to Obi, to Rebel Moon and it's - "well, that's 2 hours of my life I won't be getting back". Pathetic.:stake

So I gotta channel Aragorn "There is always hope". OK, the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train, but maybe we'll get an Inquisitor who DOESN'T look like he's wearing a pancake on his head.

As much as season 3 sucked I’d still want a few more Mando seasons with him and Grogu having fun galactic adventures over this movie.

The original Lone Wolf & Cub manga spanned 28 volumes and I never tired of it.
