“InArt is leading the way, Hot Toys better take note, pathetic!”

Hot Toys takes note and starts copying InArt….

“Lol they think they’re InArt, pathetic!”

You missed the point though. It's more about the video presentation similarities.

The hope would be that HT would up their quality, attention to details and material use- not just slap some hair on a rerelease and decide they could start charging like they’re InArt because they’ve made a video of someone using hairspray and a brush.

They’re clearly putting more work in elsewhere, on certain characters, than they otherwise would have without InArt blasting onto the scene- but this WW definitely ain’t worth getting excited about.

My take is that InArt is still a bit overhyped based on the fact that only one figure has been released by them.

Not that I don’t think they’re good to have as competition for Hot Toys and thus good for collectors but I feel like people have them on this pedestal.

They are. Otherwise Viper will beat you up for saying such doubts

Reminds me when Red Dead Redemption videos from Rockstar went through all of the things you can do in the game in a similar manner and the gameplay techniques - then quite a few other games released the same sort of videos.

I think the criticisms are nonsense. Look, at some point, a retailer put out the first printed catalogue, or television commercial, etc. You could say every other retailer after was shamelessly copying them for doing so themselves in a similar fashion. Or you could say that it made good sense for others to follow their lead. It would also be foolish to think InArt hasn’t aped off of Hot Toys just as much in some way or another. People throwing around words like “shameless” “pathetic” etc are just being over the top over a pretty common occurrence.

I mean if we’re honest here Hot Toys brought sixth scale to where it’s currently at. Not saying they’re perfect by any means and they make a lot of questionable/stupid decisions, but without them the hobby as we know it today might not even be a thing.
Grown complacent, they have

I mean sure. A lot of companies are guilty of complacency. Especially in a business that’s pretty specialized and your company is the leading force.

I’m just saying that people criticizing Hot Toys for making a video in a similar style to InArt can also take a look at the fact that InArt exists largely because of the market for sixth scale that Hot Toys helped to popularize.

I think it’s great to have multiple companies making competing quality product in 1/6 scale.

I’m a hot toy fan, but i hope someone challenges those single bend elbows soon

I don’t see how they’re anymore complacent than they’ve always been. Their figures were always hit and miss. Some releases were bangers and other were overpriced duds, same as today. I loved all the upgrades on Wonder Woman 1984. The silicone body, metal frame, improved armor, sculpted hair, etc. And it can still be ordered for $250 at Sideshow. They could’ve just done a repaint of a previous WW, but went the distance here. I’m not sure what kind of competition they can expect. Blitzway, Threezero, and InArt do such smaller releases compared to Hot Toys. Heck how many does InArt even release in month compared to Hot Toys? I’m sure Hot Toys is watching all of it closely, but I doubt they’re quaking in their boots or anything.

InArt doesn’t release multiple figures per month; to date they’ve still released one figure ever 😛
