Dark Toys 1/6 Rick Deckard

Because I'm a huge fan of Tintin, Blade Runner and Ashley Woods Tomorrow Kings line, I had a friend make me an outstanding custom Tintin based on AW's TK line. And then made a poster for him in return.

Mine has shipped too. Status: dropped off at local post office. Very excited for this one! I've got the old Brother Production Blade Hunter and the Replicant, which both are 'meh', so yeah… I'm looking forward to receiving a figure that actually looks like 'the old Blade Runner'.

Here's something some of you might appreciate. I made this from a 1000Toys synthetic human, a Supermad Toys Hunter D Blaster and some bits and bobs I found.

Can you spot the reference to the title of the original novel in the illustration?

No change in shipping status here either. Good thing is that apparenly the 'electronic customs submission' thing (yeah, I'm going to be hit by customs for this one) is already done. Awaiting shipment. I hope customs won't delay the figure too much.

What are the chances Dark Toys will release a Batty figure in the near future? Imagine: Gaff, JF Sebastian, Eldon Tyrell, Rachael, Chew, Leon, ... I'm getting carried away.

Redman did a Batty a few years back, so if they follow the pattern with Deckard they'll likely make an upgraded one under the Dark Toys label.

If they follow the pattern with Deckard, they will have to get hold of someone else's custom figures and copy them. I would have no problem if they made their own original versions of these characters, but otherwise I hope they don't.

They've done it on rare occasions. I remember they showed their Josey Wales sculpt in stages of development. I don't remember anyone claiming their (American Dreams era) The Last of Us Ellie either, which they made with a choice of fabric or plastic hair.

They must find it easier to get hold of sculpts to recast instead, because unclaimed sculpts for them are a rarity!

Yeah, this train of thought worries me. Scott Pettersen has put significant effort into doing the whole BR cast over the past few years. Present Toys recast his Mad Max, so it seems nothing is off limits anymore. Scott used to fly under the radar, as it seemed like only higher profile custom figures were recast, like rainmain and iminime, which I attributed to the fact that most of those items were already produced overseas. I understand Scott's tailoring is done overseas, but the production is done domestically, so it seemed unlikely that his stuff would be recast. Alas, the game has changed. It's just unfortunate that there are so few people that care.

I love those blasters. But it took FOR EVER for them to be made and sent out to the customers. It took over a year if not longer. First I ordered one, then two more, and finally ended up with five of 'em.

Roy Batty from redman its a nice figure but I guess after the second or third attempt on Deckard they are most likely going to make another Roy under the new flag (and of crse only if they continue the line)

I personally would love a Rachael figure but I guess the only chance is that they recast the old Scott Petterson figure

Mine arrived to the UK yesterday -
Had low expectations but turns out to be great quality - especially the outfit. That said, for me this is the best Ford sculpt to date and is a repaint/hat away from being the best Indy too...
