I'm not a fan of the sculpted boots personally.

The Sam Browne is sadly inaccurate. For one thing, its missing the buckle strap on the front between should and hip.

Sorry, negative Nancy I am right now. Disappointed.

I see the missing buckle now. The other two makes have it. So that'll be another thing to take from the Present.

Present has soft boots, though I generally prefer sculpted as they often scale better. But as Premier built the brace onto the boot it means there's a big gap before the knee pad, so changing over to the Present boots and brace will give better looking proportions.

With the dog I've been judging him against the classic still with him walking alongside Max where he looks quite small.

Yet, in this gif he looks taller:

The dog has his head up there. The model has its head tilted down, but it probably is too short.

The dog might work better when you scale the whole figure with a better body. As long as the dog's back comes up to just below midpoint on the knee pad, it should work. If its lower, then he's a bit underscaled... but still better than no Dingo at all. :)

The body as it is in the last two photos is pretty much Mel's height after removing the ankle and neck pegs. I was aiming for 11.5" above the boot heels.

The dog's back is just above the bottom edge of the knee pad.

The wiki page says a male Australian Cattle Dog should be 18-20" at the withers. So that's 3" minimum at 1/6. The figure is only 2.5".

Are the ankle pegs standard length or the longer ones?

I’m trying to think of ways to shorten this guy without hacking stuff off

They're not the usual kind of barbell pegs with the ball at each end, but rods attached to the ankles with a ball at the other end for the boot. They're not intended to be removed, so I broke them off the ankles.

The rods are about 8mm long before the ball that plugs into the boot.

Removing the neck peg allowed his head to sit lower, which helped to reduce height from the other end.

With Present's soft boots he may be a little shorter as the legs might fit lower down inside them.

I've gotten a few of these 3rd party figures with similar posts at the ankles. Perhaps they are cheaper to produce, but they are not very useful as fodder bodies. I got one that had a large barbell at the ankle which made the boot not a simple transfer to a better body.

The only positive about hearing so much negative about this figure is that I'll be expecting garbage and be pleasantly surprised with just bit of refuse...

(Trying to look at the brighter side of things, here...)

:lol

Seems a bit of a disappointment all round. I thought there would be salvageable parts but it seems not? As I mentioned if we could get a run of MM sculpts going that would be something. As all three sculpts seem to of missed the mark.

Its typical that all the figs Im into seem to turn out bad, or are not produced, thinking the PCS MacReady fig.
Im sure you guys remember when this was teased, still annoyed this never went anywhere. :gah:

Despite all the negative talk about this figure I personally thought the only negatives were the Leg Brace not being real metal, the lack of Max’s multi tool, the sheaths not being black, and maybe the headsculpt I am still deciding if I like it or not.

otherwise once I added my own personal touch to it. It seemed to come to life and I feel like I got my money’s worth!! :)

I did find it so weird that one arm was nicely sculpted while the other was not. It overall seems to me to be a pretty good figure. I would give it a 7-8.5 out of ten personally.
Here are some shots of the figure. It’s not nearly as bad as others have stated. Personally that’s just my opinion though. Note: I like to use my imagination and I am not 100% screen accurate all the time. It depends on my mood and how I want to display my figures at the time.

attaching some pics of my own personal max figures. First ones are from the Premier toys wasteland gladiator figure that I have tweaked. Next pic is a comparison of the different head sculpts I have of Mel Gibson. Note: Some need a repaint to fix chipped paint in parts. I kitbash/ customize my figures all the time so it’s not a problem for me. Next pics are my customized Tom Hardy Max. Please excuse the clutter of my home I live in a super small apartment and it gets crowded very quickly. Also my Wife loves to display her Barbies in conjunction with my figures lol :) Hope you guys like my post. First time posting for me!!

Good points, shell. MacReady is one of my other grail figures. I would love to get a good rendition of him, as well.

Some funny responses here. Or are they sad?
I think people expect WAY too much from a niche 3rd party seller at this price. Add 50 dollars to the price and I could understand the gripes.
As a buyer of alot of non HT figures, its always a crap shoot, but if you into modding and working on a figure , its paradise!

If the Warlord figure comes out anything like the proto, as this one has, Ill be super happy!

Actually I'll be selling it instead if anyone wants it new and sealed just send me a PM.
