Off topic, but how's the BBK Bucky figure in person? I've been considering picking it up but haven't seen any in-hand pictures/videos of the figure, only pictures of the parted out pieces on ebay. And could you post a picture of Bucky with your Rescue Cap and Peggy when it's ready? I may do a similar lineup and am really curious to see how they look together.

Sure, my display isn't ready but I'll try to get a few pics up with Rescue Cap at least! Thought there was a BBK thread, but will leave this here for now.....I gotta dig for the other thread.

Overall, for the price I am very very happy with this BBK fig. Keeping in mind it's not HT and u hafta deal with various things. Definitely a fig for those with patience and tweezers or pointy forceps, as u hafta assemble everything yourself. E.g., slide the pouches on the belt, put belt on, put other belt on, put the spats on; and those loops can be pretty tight. No instructions so u need to use box for reference. Carefully put the strap on the rifle. It's not for the impatient.

Also it seems in hand, 2 buttons are left off the coat compared to the box picture, and I couldn't get the coat on over the sweater. The sweater, while nicely made, IMO is too thick and too brown (but I'd been planning a Bucky fig for years and picked up a 1/6 olive green sweater a few years ago - I think it's from a DID WW2 fig.)

Nothing for me I can't work around - u can get extra 3-5mm buttons off ebay, cheap. Not sure how much it matters tho as the pistol belt will run across the chest, probably covering the missing upper chest button.

The body, while solid, had too soft knees so he needs a stand. Hands are a nice soft rubber, but need weathering; too pale out of the box (u can see where the neck of the fig was airbrushed darker to the chest, to match the sculpt.)

The pro for me is getting the look with a nicely crafted costume for a heck of a price:clap. If u are into details and can put up with some stuff, it's way better than the over $300 a custom would charge. The Corcoran jump boots in 1/6 are pleather, "real" laces (never easy to find in 1/6). Pants have working pockets. Working buckles, even on the spats. Nice pistol and rifle (that even has bullets in the magazine and u can rack the slide). All the pouches are pleater or cloth and stitched to scale. EVERYTHING is to-scale. Even comes with dog tags. Coat is nicely lined on the inside - made with some care. Spats are pleather too with tiny working straps/buckles.

The sculpt, while not dead on - to me u can see what they were going for - a younger Bucky's wide-eyed strained look after getting rescued. IMO the paint in hand is surprisingly good. A bit of a giraffe neck without the sweater, but I will fix that with some cloth or something under the coat.
LOL I like the feel of fat suits so will probably slap some underwear on - he doesn't come with an undersuit.

For the price, luv this fig:love. Finally have a WW2 Bucky to go with Rescue Cap, with a reasonable sculpt and IMO an outstanding costume for the price. Took forever to get him, and an afternoon of futzing, but I still haven't put him away 'coz I keep staring at the details. Even if u never heard of Bucky, a fig worth getting as some sort of WWII costume variant. I'm gonna give him a WWII knife, too.

Meanwhile, am thinking about the modern Bucky sculpt/jacket set, since I have plenty of Buckys to switch out. Instead of waiting 2 years.:horror
IMO needs the motorcycle spats tho in the kit. And a pistol, or something.

Thanks so much!!! :clap I don't think there's a dedicated thread for the BBK figure (I just remember seeing a few posts in the IW Bucky thread), so I appreciate the detailed reply here.

I was a bit wary based on the promo photos and ebay part-outs, but glad to hear the final product turned out well! I don't mind fiddling with tiny parts, so that's not an issue for me. In fact, the placement of pouches in the promo photos looked off compared to the movie suit, so I was going to tinker with that anyways. Tailoring is a weak point of some third-party figures, so glad to hear that they did well with detailing on that front. And I can see what they were going for with the head sculpt (when Bucky was first rescued), but I'd probably replace it with one of the short-haired modern Bucky sculpts (I've been eyeing the same head/clothing set). Not timeline-accurate, but they seem to pair better with the blue jacket look.

I currently have TFA Cap posed with the OG WS, and I love that pairing for the comic-accurate looks, but if/when I ever get a Peggy figure, I'm leaning towards WW2-era looks for Cap, Bucky, and Peggy rather than a mix of classic and modern looks (of course, an Agent Carter figure throws that idea out the window). The downside is that WS Bucky then gets paired with Stealth Cap, and those two don't visually look as interesting together (though they could sort of work as a stealth ops team). TFA is my favorite MCU movie though, so it'd be nice to give it its own display shelf.

I was kinda hoping the figure was disappointing so I wouldn't have to change my Cap/Bucky pairing, but it looks like I'll need to pick this up now. :gah: :lol

Well, hate to tell ya - for the futzer type collector, who knows no fear tinkering with tiny parts:cool: and really enjoys detail - or bashing something close that needs more accuracy - can't see passing this up, if affordable. I still have work to do and haven't really sat down and compare the movie to the fig, but gosh darn it, when I put him with Rescue Cap, they look like a set that was sold together:love (both have lots of detail, and I dunno, just have that WWII retro look).

And I don't think there'll be another WWII Bucky. I'm thinkin of getting another one to distress and put an olive green sweater on, tho for me it takes forever to ship. But these days everything does:(. (it's not that the included sweater isn't nice; IMO it's too brown and not "knit" more like ultrasuede or something.) Also luv the spats, but it's a shame IMO to cover those boots up (Bucky loses the spats, coat, etc....)

This fig IMO also would be good with the newer Buckys....anyway a quick few tablet pics; my Peggy is still boxed until I figure out to do with the tights wrinkling at her ankle - but hope these help:

That Bucky looks really cool Sassafras! And yeah he compliments those Cap and Steve Rogers figures magnificently!

Thanks! Yeah he is....with the usual tinkering u seem to hafta do even with HT - can't remember either if this is original Cap rescue outfit or the extra set I picked up - now I need to check the box.

A possible reason to pick up the latest Bucky - either for the sculpt or just to have the whole Bucky arc - but not now, I still have other figs where I wanna finish the PO. Also I'd like to see the latest Bucky in hand. Hard to beat the sculpt on the IW version IMO. It's like it doesn't get better than that.:clap Plus IW is such a great nod back to the WWII look.

Also, I'd really need to get the latest Bucky more weapons. Whether SA or not:nana::cool:

Thanks for the photos, and it does look good with TFA (and Rescue) Cap! The jacket looks a bit baggy, but that seems fixable. For reference, I spent hours modding the various straps and pouches on my TFA Cap figure to match the movie suit.

I don't see anyone else making a WW2 Bucky either, so this is probably it. I think I'll just pick it up and see what I can do with it.

As for IW Bucky, I do like that it's a modern take on the WW2 outfit (which is itself a callback to the WS outfit, just in navy). I'm just not sure about a second long-hair Bucky sculpt (I like him with short hair more when he's not Winter Soldier-ing it).

Welcome! Yeah, the jacket is a bit baggy; but I guess (at least from the box) the sweater was supposed to be under it. I might futz some more with the original sweater (in some movie shots the sweater does look brown - but I need to dig out the 1/6 DID sweater, which I think is a better match. For sure I want SOMETHING under the coat; I like the feel of my figs better with some sort of undersuit. The pants IMO are an excellent fit - they could actually have gone more baggy, maybe, based on the movie stills. I'll probably pick up some 3-5mm buttons off the 'bay too (the buttons are actually stitched, a nice touch.) Costume might benefit from a water treatment to make it look more lived-in:frank, but I will worry about that later. Staining the hands too, which are way too pale.

Outside of TFA, I prefer a more feral long hair Bucky - but he has short hair in the comics too. And I like giving Bucky a shield we all know who the shield should have gone to.:monkey3

Really curious about the FAWS sculpt in hand. I can't tell if they just re-used the IW sculpt, or this is a new sculpt with short hair. Tho I'm gonna wait. Plus, it's a long shot, but wonder if HT might re-release a TWS assassin Bucky (not that I don't already own him:cool:). But, hey, I have re-release Loki on PO right now.

I really enjoyed Karli as a character, and I've been thinking about how toake a figure of her. Surprisingly simple for everything (I'm willing to forego an accurate portrait and do the mask instead), bit jeeeeeeez Louise, I have been having a hard time finding anything that would be good for her hair. I found a head on eBay that might work for texture, but it's either black, brown, or bright red. Anyone have any recommendations?

Sassafras!!! I said it before, and I will say it again ...you will own this new Bucky :)

I think you will buy him, add some cool weapons and maybe a few things to his outfit (possibly add a shield) and he is going to look awesome!! Although a bit bare bones I think this figure has a lot of potential. Also I think this release will be all the more enticing, if they develop his character more in the MCU ...again lots of potential.

I’m looking forward to the pictures.

Did they do a figure for the character she played in “Solo” if so maybe you can pick up that headsculpt. Unfortunately I can’t remember how her hair was in that movie. Otherwise she should be a pretty easy custom for you with the mask and all. But yeah finding a head with hair like that will probably be your biggest challenge. I hope someone on here can offer some helpful suggestions for you. I’m sure someone here has successfully dyed the hair on a 1/6 scale figure.

Looking forward to pictures when you are done.

The first time he tried to carry the shield, he got blown off a train. :lol I did love BuckyCap in the comics though (except for the shiny suit).

I initially thought the new Bucky sculpt was based on the IW sculpt (looking at it in detail again didn't change my mind since some of the same wrinkles are in both), but if so, the likeness with the short hair is oddly worse (to my eyes). That said, I can see myself picking up that head sculpt when it's parted out for a short-haired Bucky look.

Yeah, i was wondering how this short haired sculpt would look on the IW body.

There is no way this is the same sculpt. IW is perfect. This one has a slight resemblance to Sebastian Stan at best.

Just looked over to my IW Bucky who sits just to the left of my desk. That is one of HTs best overall figures to date for sure. That head sculpt and how they captured the long hair is spot on. I do think the short hair version is decent...though can't compare to the IW.

Yeah, but he died defending Cap. Well, I guess he didn't die, exactly:cool:, but ANYWAY. So WWII Bucky gets a shield:nana::wink1:

Well, a least shield around the display. This EFX version is so heavy over the long term, it will have to be on its own display stand. Some of these heavier shields I have to pass coated wire through the straps to hold onto an arm.

Re the latest sculpt - Yeah, it's not just you. To me the latest version seems a bit off. But I kept thinking - that can't be right, why not just use what you have and resculpt the hair? But - it's a long wait, but will see what production does.

U might want to check out the IW Black Widow thread. I remember someone painted the hair red - I think they used dilute acrylic. You could try getting the brown hair sculpt and overwashing the hair with dilute red-orange; or the bright red and overwash with brown. Dilute fabric paint might work too, to get the right shade.:frank A lot of folks were using dilute black to give Widow dark roots; don't see why using diluted paints in other colors wouldn't work to make a Karli.

Many of you guys have probably already seen this, but I just stumbled upon it a few minutes ago, I think it looks really cool ...

Well, TBH, the IW Cap outfit is always gonna bug me coz of the vinyl type cloth. Also I don't think comic Bucky Cap would wear a mask. I've seen a nice effect with a Bucky sculpt on the Concept Cap; with the new sculpt it could be excellent if u lose the white logo and add a pistol and shield.

Yeah, points all well taken Sassafras, you are really good with this stuff ...always very logical. I would love to see this new Bucky sculpt on the concept Cap as you describe!!

I remember seeing this a while back and thinking it looks really cool too. Like Sassafras, it's not what I'd picture for a Bucky Cap (for one thing, I think he'd hide the metal arm, especially the Soviet star), but I still think it's a really cool figure for a Cap/WS hybrid concept, between the WS mask/goggles, the weathered IW suit, and the scratched shield.
