When someone is being negative just for the sake of being negative, that?s counter productive. That we can all do a little less right? It?s worse when it gets personal.

But when people are giving constructive criticism where it?s necessary at times, it?s all in hopes for a better product in the future. Let?s be honest here, whether we all agree or not, companies like HT gets away with a LOT of BS.

buuut this isn?t the place for that.

I?m legit baffled at the criticism towards Gandalf though.

As for the speed of receiving Asmus products directly from Asmus, it?s fairly quick. Sometimes it?s juuust over a week, other times it?s juuuust under a week. Mileage may vary. I?ve heard horror stories of people receiving their orders 2-3 weeks later...but those are rare cases.
Asmus has pretty fast shipping indeed. I've order stuff in other websites were the shipping took almost a month and one week. That's a true horror story. Lol but agree nothing wrong with criticism but sometimes I think it goes overboard where they start to attack people because they do like something. At that point it's best to just say you hate it and not buy it and move on, but sadly we don't get that. I'm still waiting on my invoice for this. Lol

Bruh, I’m moving REAL soon, I WANT THAT INVOICE.

Just got home from work and have been going back through and reading what I've missed....

Love it!!!!

Just received confirmation from Asmus that GtG will indeed come with his PIPE!!!
So for all those that were concerned, hopefully this will quiet your mind.

Maybe I'm not looking at this the right way, but won't a pair of scissors and a cut right in the middle of that fabric fix this issue?

The hat is useless if it wont sit right. If the hat sits too high on his head out of the box, I’m think I’m gonna make an cross (+) in that fabric with an exacto knife. I highly doubt I’ll ever sell the figure. And even if I do sell it one day, if the hack for the hat works I’ll make the argument to the buyer that it’s more valuable with a usable hat.

Anyway, once I do that surgery I might as well trim the entire opening out inside the hat with scissors. I guess the theory is that there’s a magnet inside the hat on the other side of the fabric that will hold it in place. But perhaps there’s a workaround for that too, e.g., using adhesive magnetic dots inside the hat.

How many of us actually have the figure in hand yet? How you gonna fairly criticize it without even having it yet? So often pictures don’t do justice to the actual figure in hand.

This reminds me of the initial reactions to JL Superman. That figure is absolutely stunning in hand. It’s magnificent. Production pics don’t do it justice (no pun intended) at all. Yet when the first few people posted pics predictably folks were bitching that that the neck is too long, the suit color is too saturated a blue color, the paint is super delicate on the “hope” crest (the latter is true—avoid touching the figure there!), his hair is parted on the wrong side from the movie (true—and to me it doesn’t matter), etc. Anyway always take with a grain of salt what you see posted. Wait until you have it in hand.

If I end up having to get a custom robe and hat for this dude, it’s not the end of the world.

It’s a pricey figure, yes. But it sounds like the time consuming and labor intensive production cost of installing rooted lamb’s wool hair is the real reason for the high price tag. Honestly, to me the lamb’s wool rooted hair is worth the cost of the figure alone. Provided of course that the facial resemblance is as spot on as it appears from the pics we’ve seen thus far.

I’m guessing that there will be 1/6 custom artists out there that find a thinner, finer weave fabric for the robe and hat. If it’s excellent quality I’ll get it. I’ve paid $100 for a double-sided wired leather cape for Batfleck from Unreal and it was worth every penny.

Anyway, it’s an essential figure for my LotR display, so I’m going to make it the best it can be. I can only speak for myself there. This is an expensive hobby to begin with.

Refreshing my emails like a crazy person.... still nothing.

How do we request a reduced price for customs ? Email them direct ?

This.

This is what the people complaining about the price have no clue about. Custom work this good will cost waaaaay more.

People will probably go crazy when it alone is probably $200 :lol

But from that looks of it, it?s worth it. Fine works like this do cost more.

Idgaf tbh. I bought V.1. I love it, I just want the sculpt. The magic silver scarf, all the staffs, I altered the hat for the perfect shape, have it all set in the pose I want. Now I just need that sculpt.

I'll pay, that's fine.

Or maybe the majority of folks here think it looks good and it?s the typical obnoxiously vocal minority that doesnt. It?s fine if you dont like it. But stop trying to gaslight others into thinking their opinion is objectively wrong. The cognitive dissonance is strong here, your view of things is not inherently the correct one.

Again the problem as I see it is, if you post a negative opinion you are are attacked as being wrong or a troll.

I post my thoughts and then you say I'm 'gaslighting' people. This thread is filled with people saying how perfect this figure is .... as though that isn't also gaslighting. You're using that term far too loosely.

I have the first release of Gandalf the Gray that Asmus did. I think I may go with the sideshow hat.

However I was able to get the Asmus hat to look decent by putting aluminum foil inside the hat. It made it so you can shape and pose it however you want. In this case it will require removing the little cover that was sewn in.

I see that this figure's waitlist is full on Sideshow. Does anyone have any experience with that? I'm wondering if there's even a chance that at some point the figure's waitlist will open up again or maybe even become available to order again without being put on a waitlist? Or is there a good chance of this happening?

I have over $350 of Sideshow reward points that I'd love to spend on this guy instead of paying $350 for it direct from Asmus or elsewhere, so that's why I'm asking.
