It's hard to get a high quality image with the lights off to show off the lit saber on my camera phone.

Nice pics. Is that the stock saber? Looks a lot brighter.

Thanks, yes it is and the supplied batteries. I've read lots of complaints about the light up sabers/batteries but for this figure, Vader, Kylo and ANH Luke all the sabers are really nice and bright.

The lighting of our homes and how our cameras capture the glow is also going to vary a lot. Short of a group of us going into the same room together with our Luke figures and lighting them up together with everyone using the same type of battery and fresh ones, it's really hard to tell whether one works better than another or if that's just how the photo online seems.

My new phone camera is designed to enhance lighting under dark conditions and so dimmer lit shots all come out brighter than they look to my eyes, that's just the unfortunate nature of cameras.

I still don't get why his Mandalorian appearance was necessary for anyone to decide they finally need a Jedi Luke in their collection.

It wasn't, at least for the regular collectors like most folks here who are buying because of what they like.

If certain figures or collectibles get suddenly bought out or more sought after because of something like this, it's usually just raw hype driven.

Motivation depends on the person. Whether that's a genuine kindled/rekindled interest in something, just wanting to be on the bandwagon, doing it for credibility or to stay relevant, or a speculator looking to profit, etc.

It's my favourite look for Luke with the cloak so I ordered as soon as it was up for pre order (around GBP 140)
It's not perfect but I was surprised it was available for ages after release, though the deluxe and Endor version announced not long after didn't help.

I'm sure that the vast majority of those in the Freaks SW forum already have a Jedi Luke but in RotJ display(s) and want one to represent his arse-kicking moment from "The Mandalorian", as well. (I know I do...) :wink1:

Yes its definitely because of the popularity of Mandalorian. While most of us here are die hard fans, buying our little collectibles of a film from the 70s, which no longer has the attention of the general public -The Mandalorian is a hot new property which has grabbed the public's attention in a choke hold. (mostly because of baby Yoda) And much like a swarm of locust, the casual audience has descended upon us like a plague.

So initially we had the luxury of picking up Luke at our leisure, whenever we got around to it. But now suddenly we are competing against people who have zero star wars collectibles, save for a few funko pops, and are now gobbling up anything vaguely related to Mando. They just just typed 'Luke' into ebay and stumbled across the figure. We have to contend with them as well as our fellow collectors and thus the price on Luke has jumped.

But rest assured HT will capitalize on this sudden demand

For me, it was seeing him do the spinny spins and the slice-n-dice with his laser sword.

Happy new year everyone. Finally finished my custom Mandalorian Luke. ^_^ All customs are by me, expect the lightsaber.
