Gideon looks like a guy who would sell you an extended warranty. Was not menacing at all. Casting was awful for that character.

More often than not the Mando was an idiot. He needed saving more often than not.

Gideon is more menacing in the sense that he comes off composed, but beneath the surface there are hints that he's unhinged. I think Giancarlo Esposito is an excellent choice of an actor to play an imperial officer while bringing something more fresh to the table for an imperial. He certainly has the acting chops for the roll.

A new trilogy with Luke, R2, Grogu, Ahsoka, Din... I bet each movie beats Endgame. Disney must be soo excited to cash in.

Easy there champ, don't get carried away.

I loathe the Disney**** Trilogy with every molecule of my being, but I'm a realist. The best we can hope for is for them to just kind of quietly stop talking about them, and they won't do that after dumping billions of dollars into those atrocious movies.

There will be no "retcon" or "re-do." The movie industry as we know it might be completely over anyway.

It would appear the future of Star Wars is gonna be these limited TV series, so I'm sure there will be plenty more fan friendly cameos here and there, but no, we're never going to get the proper continuing adventures of Luke, Han, and Leia like we always wanted. (Unless they recast all three, but that seems unlikely.)

I don't think there will be any more "trilogies." That's the past. Streaming is the future. Cameos and easter eggs that will make people lose their minds so Star Wars will trend on Twitter for a few days.

The Disney Trilogy was absolute retail poison as far as merch goes. Mandalorian was a smash hit. So I'm guessing we'll see baby Jabba, baby Max Rebo, baby R2 and more in the coming years since that's the only thing that sells.

Maybe we'll even get little kid versions of Darth Vader and Boba Fett....wait...never mind.

Internet is on fire right now.

Grogu, R2, CGI Luke, Din, Ahsoka... are the future. They are a cash cow. A new trilogy and new path towards the future with that group would make tens of billions in sales. Much better and more liked than the little ST and Mary Rey Sue. Believe me. A five minute scene did more for Star Wars and will sell more merch than 3 movies ever did. It is over for the ST.

MAKE STAR WARS GREAT AGAIN AND RETCON THE ST!

Even though I harbor immense aversion towards ST. But seriously you're just like the reverse version of jye or Khev with their hatred to the Prequel :rotfl

I'm all for retconning out the ST, particularly now. I mean, after this, who really wants to believe that Luke will go on to catastrophic failure - with all his students - possibly even Grogu - massacred in a Game of Thrones Red Wedding scenario? And by Han and Leia's only child no less. That's a ****ing horror future. I reject it outright.

Trouble is they called those films Episodes 7, 8 and 9. It would be an astonishing admission of failure and humiliating to those involved in the making of those films.

You're right that a single face reveal only in the finale would've likely made it a bigger deal, but each of the two reveals made a different statement.

The first face reveal was Din being a pragmatist by taking the helmet off to complete the mission and even have a chance to rescue the kid. The second time was Din being a dad; no pragmatism involved. I think there's value in showing that he was willing to do it both when he *had* to (in Chapter 15) and when he *chose* to (in Chapter 16).

It's not like the previous episode had him remove the helmet just to take a dump or something. :lol Both times were effective because they showed him breaking his oath for different reasons. But both being ultimately because of how much he cares about Grogu's well being.

But yes, meaningful interactions with a puppet baby continues to defy logic and is a pretty remarkable achievement.

You're correct that it was effective in the previous episode aswell...just perhaps if the two reveals had at least not occurred in consecutive episodes.

I am a little bummed that the Luke's face CGI wasn't perfect. I mean it's already been four and a half years since we saw a perfect young RDJ in CW. I'm still glad that they went that route over a recast though.

I know I said I never wanted to see someone other than Ford playing Han and then ended up being highly entertained by Alden's take but I don't think a recast would work for a simple cameo. If another actor is gonna fill the role they need time to breath and make it their own IMO.

I was actually more bummed out that they made him too stoic almost cold like and didn't give him enough dialogue and didn't allow him to interact more with all of the other characters on that bridge I always want more Luke not less more more more of my childhood.

But then I realized had they gone that direction it would've completely overshadowed the Mando Grogu farewell scene.

As it was just the mere fact that Luke freaking Skywalker was standing there all quiet and stoic almost stole the emotions away from Mando saying his goodbye to Grogu so had they made it this jovial talkative Luke the entire focus and emotional impact of the scene would've shifted over to Luke instead of Grogu and Mando where it belonged Luke is still a cameo afterall.

Maybe stoic Luke is connected to his cgi face quality in some way I don't know but i'll run with it just like we did what we had to do to accept wimp Fett lol

Besides Khev I think ILM will eventually go back and tweak Tarkin, Leia and Luke without even saying a word.

Cgi can by updated who cares JUST GET Hamill Luke into the scene.

When trashing the ST please remember to trash the PT as well so that my image of a perfectly balanced a-dev as all things should be is not tarnished lol

There are still plenty of reasons why I don't believe Disney will just eliminate the ST from canon.

They spent billions on the films and what the PT taught them if anything was that eventually what was hated in SW will be embraced in SW so just sit quietly on your investments and be patient. AOTC is almost at masterpiece level with the doomcockers give it time lol

Spent billions on the theme park but that will probably be updated to Mando Land now that the ST fizzled out and Baby Yoda caught on like a weekly California fire.

I'm not certain if Disney is just going to piss on carrie fishers legacy like that.

Or Harrison Ford for that matter who is still alive and still working with Disney on Indy.

Rey Daisy Ridley like or not still has a fan base she weathered the ST problems in a highly professional manner as did Oscar. Boyega is an idiot.

Hamill I think still partly hates the ST lol

I honestly don't think you guys are getting the retcon you are hoping for.

They will just stay quiet on it and let Acolyte do all the talking lol

Anyways Han Luke and Leia are in them ya'll crazy if you think i'm pulverizing them into oblivion.

Great episode, just watched it this morning.

I think they will do a 'soft' retcon of ST, basically letting the creators of content chip away at it without totally disregarding it. That whole trilogy is a pointless mess.

Loved the T-800 feel to the Dark Troopers.

Luke showing up was a very cool moment.

Luke CGI face kind of ruined all the coolness. Made RO Leia look like Oscar winner for F/X

When the four Woman were going after the bridge.. All I could hear was Ducky say "Girl Power!!" :lol

Am I the only one that was more excited to see R2 more then Luke :lol

Notice that R2 was the hero again.. Grogu didnt want to leave with Luke. It took the real hero of the PT and OT to bring him along :)

Loved that ending with Fett. Guess that is why Fett put on weight.. He knew that he wanted Jabba's throne and only Fatty's can sit on it :lol

Good ending. Nice surprise. Not my fav episode of the series but very good and a nice overall wrap up.

I think R2 may have been added to the scene to shift focus from Luke's CGI. If so it was a good call.

[...]Imagine their trying to explain away Boba's soiling himself [...]

Oh, it's all part of the 'brilliant long game'. :lol :lol :lol

So many great archetypes in Star Wars: the Idealistic Hero, the Rogue, the Plucky Princess, a Fallen Hero, and now with Boba Fett, we have the Tragic Clown.

I applaud the depth of their storytelling. Gotta hand it to the showrunners. :D

Hunh

Nope

He was perfectly used to soften the separation of Grogu and Mando they needed a kid friendly character for Grogu to first go to.

It was the transition needed to signal all the crying kids and adults that all will be fine you can stop crying now lol

Oh wait you were joking my bad lol

Actually I wasn't joking, but upon further reflection it does seem likely that R2 was always meant to be part of that scene as he would have been in the X-Wing. But I think they may have expanded his screen time with Grogu to shift focus from the CGI. Or I'm just grasping at straws to support my original statement, similar to your clinging to any theory to keep the BF Badass ship afloat. :wave
