Not gonna lie.... SS one looks a lot better. I don't know or own anything from Legacy Effects..are their stuff looks good as the prototype shown?

....... does anyone ever bother reading some of the posts.

Legacy Effects is a Hollywood Studio who collaborates on a few prototype pieces with Sideshow...... and that’s it. They’re not involved in production. Heck when it comes right down to it, even Sideshow aren’t involved in production. They simply choose the Chinese factory. They give them their prototype, pay them for a certain level of quality and that’s it. At which point it’s up to Sideshow to take them to task or not on Quality Control issues.

I'm going with both - the SS one for display and the HT for the fun photo op stuff. I'm sure my wife will want the HT one sitting on the couch with us when we watch The Mandalorian.:lol

SS looks more realistic. But like everyone said, their final product usually falls short from the prototype. Definitely a waiting game for in hand pics. I wouldn't PO either if I was interested.

Shocked with everything going on right now this has a release of q4/2020-Q1-2021. I expected it much later how back logged they are.

Awe damn based on ss history the ss might suck hopefully not didn’t realized they had collaborated with legacy before the wording is very deceiving they should say ( legacy worked on proto only ) that’s why I love this forum you can always learn no matter how long you’ve been collecting!

Yup given how much HT charges for their 1/4 figures, I was actually expecting this to cost a whole lot more than $410. Anyone expecting an articulated life-size figure from HT to cost less than that is simply dreaming.

It doesn't come with much though and accessories are part of the fun with a figure you can pose. That is the disconnect.

I also feel like once you go bigger scale than 1/6, static statues are the way to go anyway. In larger size I hate seeing stuff like wrist/elbow joints and in this case that unsightly seam on the Child's ears.

SS always has nice prototypes, but HT final production figures are still significantly nicer.

I'm sure this project is higher priority than most anything else. Ideally they will want it out before Christmas. It will sell in crazy numbers and the toy companies will want to get right to work on season 2 Mandalorian stuff once this is pushed out.

Yeah that?s what I was thinking. This and V1 mando they?ll likely get out this year for Xmas

I would be willing to bet that Legacy Effects involvement is what enabled Sideshow to get theirs out first and what led Hot Toys to put out that desperate "don't forget about us" post on social media.

You're just on a one-man crusade to make sure everyone possible is aware of this. :D

I want an actual life size figure, not a life size statue. So, Hot Toys easily wins for me on that reason alone. Glad I waited. Both look great to me, but I think HT will look better upon release and SSC will fail to live up to the proto.

In terms of sculpt HT is definitely more accurate:

But Sideshow has some more realistic features like more hair fuzz and translucent skin (who knows if those will actually carry over to production though). And no ugly ear seam.

Confused about this statement. Sideshow's was produced by Legacy Effects who made the original puppet used in the show. HT have sculpted it based on photos (like they usually do) and so I'm intrigued to know what makes you think HT is more accurate.

I'm going with HT more because of quality than accuracy. I know what i'm getting with HT but with Sideshow it can be the best in the world or a how could they mess it up so badly.

I hope they both come out amazing but i'm playing it safe

Pretty much.

My own issue, but I find it really irritating is all (pet peeve). Most of the statue collectors ‘should’ know better.... at least those who purchase movie pieces; but since the Sideshow piece went up, there’s always someone asking the same question or is adamant that it’s not Sideshow producing the production pieces.

The only ones imo who have an excuse are first time buyers, especially those who haven’t bought any Collectables, let alone any other Hot Toy figures, and are only here to purchase Baby Yoda (at least for now).

POed both, will compare the **** out of 'hem, keep the best IMO and sell the other

That’s one way to go, but if Sideshow’s comes out lacklustre to bad, I wouldn’t be so sure you’ll be able to sell it for a decent price, especially with the amount of pieces they’re likely to produce for this thing.

I’m just going to have both preordered, but from my local source. So if one comes out terrible I’ll be able to cancel, but the downside of getting it locally is that I usually have to wait months for my allotment, even though I preordered Sideshows at least in the first few hours of it going up for preorder worldwide.

SS is a statue, Hot Toys is an articulated life-size figure...different category.

"Statue" , "Figure"...no rational comparison here.
