When that guy in the video takes off the vest at the end you can see the shirt is ill-fitting in the same places as the V.1. If they had shortened the shoulder seams a bit and snugged it up in the under-the-shoulders area it would have made a world of difference. The underlying body proportions are good but the shirt is just too baggy in the torso and broad in the shoulders for it.

The V.2 in that video in throne room mode actually looks slightly wonky, mostly due to the legs looking like twigs from cutting the leg padding, even if the torso is slightly less bulky vs V.1 due to the new cut of the fatsuit.

I know he probably hasn't really futzed much but from the back (when he spins it) that fig in the vid looks kinda bad - too-skinny legs, bulky upper torso, seams drooping from the points of the shoulders, baggy arm sleeves.

Here's the v2 fatsuit:

Lot slimmer obviously in places.

I don't have the v2 so I can't compare but I didn't think the "fat" Luke came out too bad... here's mine...

It's just how he would have looked if he did some daily pushups and a cheeseburger back in the early 80s :rotfl

V1 looks fine to me.

The V1 isn't bad by any means, but there was a reason people were modding it up. I liked my Death Star Luke until I got the V2. You can't know the difference until you have both. The proportions on the V2 are simply a sleeker Hamill. I'm not convinced the fat suit is the only difference but maybe...but I'm not tearing them apart to find out.

It's harder to tell with that vest on because it covers stuff up (both the fit issues actually,) but this is what I mean about the V.2 - I know it's a back 3/4 angle, but this is what I mean about the skinny upper legs that don't have the padding, and also the shoulder seams falling off the points of the shoulders (ie shirt's shoulder width too wide for body.)

I know there's some lens distortion, but this is a screen capture from that guy's V.2 video to show what I mean:

The core problem is the fit of the shirt vs the body, and it's the same on both versions. They needed to re-tailor the shirt but for V.2 all they did was tweak the fatsuit.

I was becoming disappointed with my v1 Luke... until I went and had a look at him.

Like all things, including vinyl, people will swing back to the v1 Luke as being superior in time.

The V2 fat suit parted out has now risen to $100.

;)
No matter their differences the two HT versions of Jedi Luke are best viewed as the HT ROTJ DX Luke. Despite the bitterness folks have about being bamboozled into buying two separate releases both sets combined come with a ton of display options and three head sculpts for about $500 which is pretty close to what I would expect to pay for DX07 if HT released it today.

3 Jedi Lukes and I'm happy I got the first most bare bones release. If you put them next to each other I'd have a hard time accepting a $5 rise for a better fatsuit, I saw the comparison video and the vest is badly futzed too. Luke is a great figure but the deluxe isnt worth the same price as DX16 aka Maul, nope, no matter how many wardrobes or side glancing windswept head sculpts he comes with.

Looking forward to having more display options with Jedi Luke. Here's the v1 again...

I'll more than likely settle on a "Death Star" display look for the v2 once I/m done switching it up and taking shots.

If you have original Sideshow Jedi Luke still you can use that black outfit under the Jabba's Palace cloak to good effect. Can use one of the HT heads or even the old Sideshow Hoth alternate sculpt with the cloak hood up. For me it is a great way to make an old figure useful again.

Yeah, also the second set comes with a LOT of new stuff that really makes it worthwhile in terms of display options (ie so many you really would have needed two figs anyway, even if the DX was the only release in existence,) even if the base fig is much the same.

Yeah, the V.1 Luke in that video has the vest so spread/badly futzed it reminded me of a POTF2 Luke Jedi fig.:lol

Careful with the staining - I seem to recall someone saying they had the first proven case of staining on theirs (people were just paranoid before)

Thanks....I soaked the cloak to rinse out the excess dye when first got the figure. Good to remind folks about the issue.

What did you soak it in? Vinegar? I thought salt is supposed to "set" dye also.

I like the look of the HT cloak but I do think that the old Sideshow Luke Palace cloak is probably the best. The cut/sew on the newest Sideshow cloak is off and the HT color seems a bit off. I just took my HT one out and didn't like the look of it, so haven't really used it much - the HT Ben Kenobi cloak I also wasn't a huge fan of (the old Sideshow version of that also looked best to me) as it felt like chamois material.

I soaked it in warm water, rised, dried, repeated twice till water was clear

I like the sideshow one a lot except for the seam on the hood.

Thinking of selling my HT ROTJ Luke. The figure is in excellent condition.

PM me if interested.

I am on waitlist for this HT Luke figure. Any idea when pre-order was about to ship? (What chance is there I get it converted?)
