Yeah I'd love to see a cleaned up Dune with stunning HDR.

Of that list I'll also pick up JAWS, BTTF1 (hopefully they're sold individually), LOTR/Hobbit, Top Gun, and AKIRA.

Lord of the rings and the Hobbit I might eventually get. Back to the future will probably sold as a trilogy and I am happy with the blu ray version. Let me know how the 4k77 is that you ordered. It's on blu ray though and not 4k disc right?

I think you're probably right about BTTF being sold as a trilogy and if that turns out to be the case then I'll pass on paying a premium to upgrade all three to 4K. I bought the blu-ray set a few years back and have only ever watched the first one.

Yes the 4K77 will be 1080p blu-ray since I haven't found a way to get it on actual 4K yet. Still a nice step up from the TN1 SSE though. I got the DNR version since I read that that looks better if you aren't using a projector and I'll definitely let you know how it looks.

When is JAWS 4K?

I have to get that and a 4K player.

I have a strange thing with Jaws: it was my first record, my first 8-track, my first cassette, my first VHS, my first CD, my first DVD, my first Blu-ray... and so it must be my first 4K played on my new 4k Blu-ray player.

Some big releases coming to 4K for the first time this year:

JAWS
Back to the Future trilogy
LOTR/Hobbit trilogies
Top Gun
Dune (1984)

Days of Thunder
War of the Worlds (2005)
Spartacus
AKIRA
Highlander
Full Metal Jacket
A Clockwork Orange
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Total Recall (1990)

Bought! (On iTunes, in the hope they do free 8K upgrades in future...)

Those would be the versions I would get too. I've read up on it and hopefully Empire will be done soon. I like the comparisons they showed with the dnr free and the dnr versions. You get both Star Wars and Jedi? Can you pm me where you got them. I asked JimJimmyJones and he hopes to be able to get them on a 4 k disc at some point.

You do need to get 4K by the end of June then buddy.

Disney can kiss my hairy ass with those 4K SW releases lol

Other than their 3D Force Awakens and 3D RO releases which I greatly appreciated they should bow their heads down in shame on how they handled the home video releases of their MCU cash cow.

Whatever my 1080p image quality is better than most 4K out there anyways.

Didn't you get TLJ and Solo in 3D?

Im assuming you got Infinity War and Endgame in 3D.

No original cut, no purchase from me.

Yeah I forgot I did get TLJ in 3D and it is awesome lol

Solo I did not because the movie is so dark it might as well just have 2014 Godzilla in it.

I mean it is $22 on Amazon so maybe i?ll give it a spin.

But Disney treatment of the MCU home releases is an absolute disgrace.

Don't get it on my account. [emoji1]

I don't regret buying it, but it's not a good example of 3D by any stretch of the imagination. I basically bought it, just to complete the collection.

I'm currently approaching 150 3D Blu-rays, and honestly, I know most of them are crap, but I just keep buying. $1 for 300 : Rise of an Empire 3D? I'll take it. Ninja Turtles 3D for $4, yep, I got that too. My standards go out the window when I see a super cheap 3D disc. Hell, I even momentarily considered the Girl Ghostbusters 3D/4K when I saw it for $7. Luckily I came to my senses long enough to lose out on the offer.

Probably have about 60 4K discs, who knows how many 4K that are digital only.

I recently sold a bunch of movies I upgraded, and even that gave me pause. But im probably sitting at around 800 discs.

Help me, I'm sick. [emoji1][emoji24][emoji38][emoji24][emoji38][emoji24]

At those prices you would be nuts not to buy them.

The ugly streaming reality is upon us meaning if you don?t own the actual discs and you want to watch a movie you will need to pay that specific studio to stream it.

I totally see studios removing the digital code one day from the few blu-rays they will even bother to release.

Hey you want to watch it then you need to subscribe.

I?m happy for 4K/HDR and even 8K/HDR I don?t want to take anything away from their implementation BUT my fingers are crossed that 3D tv will make a grand return.

Yep, they don't want consumers owning anything anymore, just subscribing.

Well, they did release a new 8K 3D capable TV.
