Love the vehicle but quickly outgrew the films, even the first two with Keaton. :monkey5:chase

I find '89 almost unwatchable now, mainly due to the Joker's portrayal and that ridiculous Prince number, but there's something about the all-out weirdness of Returns that keeps me coming back.

I still love both, but then I was never bothered by Keaton and Nicholson's off-kilter portrayals of the characters anyway. I will say though, rewatching them recently they definitely seemed far chintzier and smaller in scale than ever before, especially compared to any superhero movie made today. Even the cheesy CW shows have a larger scope and feel than those Burton movies. :lol

To this day I think Keaton makes a fine Batman, but Nicholson's Joker I completely outgrew. As a kid he made sense and I surely overlooked a few things because OMG BATMAN; as an adult he doesn't work for me.

How many Freaks got their Batmobile for $629.99...? Plus $100 for shipping at least. Plus tax for many.

Its about an $800 piece. Like Sideshow Jabba :lol

Now who's getting the 1/6th Batwing?

Hence broke. :lol

I paid more than that, I got in on the brutal aftermarket.

What do you mean, like work work? As in, the machines guns can shoot and maim people?

No.

Do the weapons work on the Batmobile? The grappling hook? Cockpit lights?

Dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree along with tail-lights, headlights, afterburner. The grappling hooks are articulated (claws open and close) but are just friction-fit into their sockets and non-functional. Hatches open and close for the Bat-discs, shin-breakers can be installed, and the machine guns can be pulled up from where they're recessed with a very limited range of motion as in the film. The mechanisms for the ammo-belt feed flips up and down. I think that's it.

Yeah I can see how overly cartoonish he must seem to many, but for me there was just enough of a dark and creepy vibe in his scenes to keep it from descending into complete camp.

He definitely had some vibe...the script certainly hurt the character more than Nicholson did.

what did the script do?

You mean the original script, or what they ended up with onscreen after all the adlibbing?

Really? That was improv? Not cool if so. What was Nicholson thinking? And Burton let him do it? I guess he still had a ton of clout at that point...

You don't actually believe that all the gaffs and fart sounds and mugging were in the script? Like a writer wrote: Joker makes a fart sound as he exits. No. This town needs an enema? No.

Nicholson Joker is like Trump. :lol
