I hope Robin is black too. And if Gordon is black, doesn't that mean batgirl will be as well?
Lol, I remember when there was that rumor that the new Superman would be the black bad dude from The Black Panther... I was about to jump from a building lol.. I'm not racist or anything I just can't picture a black Superman or Bats, or Spiderman, etc..

I didn't mind Perry "White" being "black" or "Jimmy" being "Jenny" - but don't mess with the lead characters.
The fact that Kravitz isn't particularly beautiful nor talented suggests that she was hired because of her skin color which already paints this new production as "Woke" Batman. And I have little interest in a Gotham City that is more concerned with political correctness than being edgy.
The 2004 Catwoman (which I still haven't seen all the way through) might have been garbage but at least Halle Berry was a gorgeous Oscar winning superstar who didn't even play a character named Selina Kyle.
This production is already going in the opposite direction of "Joker" and is reminding me right out of the gate that oh yeah, it's 2019, gotta check those boxes and be as inoffensive as possible, story and source material be damned.

I?ll even stick to my guns that Joker annoyed me with his 1% monologue at the end but maybe that was his fake way to get the people to riot and not because the 1% really bugged him that much.
Speaking of Joker my 2nd viewing and wife?s 1st starts in a little under 2 hours.

Well, I don't know if you can entirely go on the beauty thing. She's in the range where I would admit subjectivity. Yes, I don't find her particularly attractive but I can easily see that others would. At least she's not fat. At least they didn't decide to tick another box at the same time with the body positivity movement or something. And also there was a black Catwoman all the way back in the 60s. I didn't even know that. I only found out when I watched the Double Toasted guys talk about this. So that means there's an old precedent for this character not being a strictly white character and I won't call it the sheer tokenism that these things can come across like in some cases.
True there was the black Catwoman from the Adam West movie wasn't there (or was it the final season of the TV show?) Hmm okay I'll accept that. Kravitz has already been a superhero though ("Angel" in X-Men: First Class) and she wasn't particularly memorable and I actually thought that she was one of the weaker links in Fury Road so I'm still not optimistic but I guess we'll just have to see.

Black Panther being a ginormous money maker definitely impacted Hollywood casting there?s absolutely been a huge seismic shift in race bending towards black characters and somewhat asian as well but not as much as black.
Like Snipes said always bet on black.

I watched the Blade Trilogy this week. Snipes pretty much informs what that character is supposed to be for me so it might be hard to accept Mahershala Ali.
