After I wrote that I thought it's only a matter of time until someone applies that to any figure.
But yes, nobody really needs any figures right. But I find once I write it off in my mind as "don't need it. Not prepared to spend the money" then I try to make that the rule to abide by. Usually works, especially if the after market price is way more. That's enough to keep me away from any second guesses.
I?ve been doing this as well, and the only figure I?ve PO?d in roughly the past year has been Armored Thanos. I?ve sold more figures than I?ve acquired.
I’m way more selective about what I get now than I used to be.

I have a list showing existing figures and key ones I'd like to have which I think have a decent chance to be made at some point. This is all based on the space I have for a given group. I find this really helps me focus on what I want vs what I have space for. Not too many more to go now actually. Maybe 10-12 core figures.
Well so much for self-control. I finally gave in and bought Ray and Egon after all since the idea of having more figures to pose with Ecto-1 was just getting too tempting, and because Venkman was always looking out of place next to any other characters I had to put him with. It'll probably seem a bit weird not having Winston as well, but I guess 3 figures would fit a lot more naturally in a detolf anyway.
Plus I've been really wanting to lighten the skin tone on those other figures like I did with my Venkman for awhile now.

Did you buy the ones from KG or the ones being offered from ebay dealers? I'm tempted myself, looking for good deals on both Ray and Egon.

I bought Ray off ebay and Egon off KG, since he and Venkman were the only ones they still had. But they ended up costing the same, $254 shipped.
I looked everywhere to see if someone else might be selling, but strangely it only seems to be those two places. Not sure why it's so under-the-radar like this.

That's a good price. I haven't seen any on ebay that low, must have missed it.

Yeah it was a bit lower for a while, and then it went back up. But I just submitted an offer. The wait does suck, but I'm kinda used to that with all the parts I'm always ordering from over there.
Only problem is now I need a order a couple more stands from Coco as well.

Well Dave, I'm still "master of my domain"....
but if you're getting the Ecto-1 well that's a whole different story. You can't just have Venkman standing alone next to the Ecto !

I initially purchased the 3-pack, but I later PO’d Winston individually as like you said, it’d feel a bit incomplete to me without Winston and I doubt they’re going to be making GB2 figures anytime soon. Plus even if they did, I wouldn’t want a second set of GB anyway. If you’re going to be putting them in a detolf though, with all their gear, four is indeed a bit much.
Yeah every time I've seen 4 in there it looks way too crowded, and I'm not one of those who likes to pay all this money for a figure only to have most of it hidden in the background.
Making only 3 work around Ecto will be a bit trickier, but I think if I have them standing around a bit more casual it may not be as obvious as if they were fully decked out and standing side by side. Or I could have them leaning against the front of the car, since there would only be room for 3 there anyway.
But yeah, who am I kidding. I'm sure I'll track down Winston at some point.

My plan is to put Ecto-1 in it's own display below the figures. I have all 4 but would not mind another Ray to put in a mechanics outfit and have him posed working under the hood.
Yeah that's the one thing I'm most bummed about with the Soldier Story cancellation, as it would have been fun to have a mix of jumpsuits and civilian outfits like we often saw in the movie.
I was really hoping for Soldier Story to come through.
Egon is my favorite as an adult, but I liked Ray as a kid, and loved 80’s Dan Aykroyd in general. I never got Ray (and thus no Venkman or Winston) though because the Ray sculpt looks like Aykroyd, just fifteen years later, and is way too serious an expression for my tastes.

Yeah that's why I originally passed on Ray as well. He just didn't look young enough. And I wasn't really digging the weird expression they gave Egon either. I guess they were going for a look of disgust like in the shot below, but it doesn't really translate that well.
Well, a guy willing to declare “print is dead” in 1984 would probably have a look of disgust on his face often.

I had to have the complete team. Ghostbusters is my all time favorite film and i have no idea when (or if) all four will be made again. They are not perfect but i am extremely happy to have them all on the shelf.

The reference for the Egon sculpt was the literal, few seconds long look he gave when the dean came to kick them off campus at the beginning of the first movie.
