If I'm paying $200 shipping may as well get the DX version.
Bio would be my preferred display option though, next to the unmasked SWS piece.

I think the DX is a must really. In comparison to the overall cost of the piece its nothing.

If there was only 1 statue and you had to choose between which head you wanted id go for masked too. But the fact it has a choice of 4 heads is a great way of keeping the statue fresh Especially for the price the last thing i want is to get bored of it which can be a big issue for me. I only had the 1:1 Giger Alien head for a short time and i started to get a bit bored, then before i knew it i was repainting and modding it up every few months just to keep it fresh. Even then i still might end up selling my modded version. So with this having 4 heads i think its a great way to keep it fresh.

It would be nice to be able to rotate the display by paring heads with the different left hand combinations of skulls etc

The prototype in these pics has 2 pouches, where as the version that just went up for pre order only has the 1, which is more screen accurate....

The single pouch. Prime 1 worked more on the prototype after the convention to make it closer to the film (even though it's not billed as a film statue ).

You've compared a very bad picture of the SWS head, to a nice sharp image of the Prime 1 version. You've also focused entirely on the unmasked head which ignores the SWS's strengths entirely. Both have their pros and cons and even most of us whom own the SWS have been more than happy to admit that Prime 1 have offered the best unmasked head sculpt of any Predator statue yet. Where the SWS takes the lead however is with it's FAR superior bio mask (no small issue) With Prime 1's needing a bit of work. And with it's laser scanned armour which is completely accurate to the real suit. It also has the pedigree of having Mr Winston himself involved with it. Compare them by all means, but do so fairly. The fact that the only thing we even have to compare this to is the 13 year old SWS maquette should speak volumes about that piece anyway.....

Add to that the more accurate colors (https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193450&p=10184358&viewfull=1#post10184358) and SWS is still superior.

1850 quid wtf! Why in the hell is this almost double the price of the P2 statue? I didn't expect that. This has gone from most definitely to a maybe now. That seems extortionate to me.

If they make a ton of these just like all of their others pieces they will likely be selling for much cheaper once they're released. I might wait but I really want this. Even the Goro 1/3 with an ES of 150 I've seen sell for under retail and I paid full whack plus import fees for that. The hobby isn't what it used to be and I assume this has no ES? I'm not sure now. Hmm...

It's madness to think play.com listen the cinemaquette 1/3 Pred for a grand years back and this is 1/4 and almost double the price.

I just can't understand how there is ?850 more of statue here in comparison the the Pred 2. Especially when this isn't requiring a film license. I want it but I'm not a mug lol. Am I tired and missing something? I can't be alone here right?

And the CM Alien for ?699 briefly, I still regret not buying that thing (and the CM at the time) But back then I barfed at paying that kind of money for any statue, and now here we are...... Funny how things change sometimes. Play.com though, they were the days lol....

There is no way at ?1850 or even the price shipping straight from prime 1, and with a relatively high ES, these wont be hanging about later on. I'd be amazed if they were. There's no way they'll end up worth a lot more surely.

Why in the hell is this almost double the price of the P2 statue? I didn't expect that.

Comparing the standard editions, I guess the extra hands, light-up bits, and more elaborate base (fake plants, translucent water, complex paint scheme) compared to the bronze eagle are the reasons. Not sure if that warrants a $600USD increase over the P2, though. $400 maybe.

Food for thought to those waiting for release in hopes of a lower price: Alien and especially Predator collectibles - good ones, anyway - tend to hold their value. If this isn't already a grail, it will surely become one. The Cinemaquette cost $2000, $2500 ten years ago? Add inflation and consider that while this is smaller in height (by a mere four inches), it comes with a lot more, will likely feature a better production paint app, and still costs less. Far from ideal, but compared to other options out there, the amount isn't totally out of left field.

One could conclude the CM was overpriced and the P2 wall art is a little miracle.

They also responded to my email stating they will indeed have extras on-hand in case of any issues. The deposit is a pain, but I suppose it's less payment over the life of the preorder.
