After having one I really don’t think it’s that must of a “have to have”
Thing that got me about it it was it looked cheap along side all the other vehicles.
Massive batman fan and it was an easy sell on for me that I don’t miss

You are not a Batman fan if you think selling the 89 hot toys batmobile is a easy sell. One wonders why you even bought it in the first place...and it deosn't look cheap, anyone who has seen it in person knows that.

Anyone ever used any car plastic polish or any other type of polish on this? I would but it would only make the plastic shinier instead of matte/semi gloss. I would definitely treat the wheels though.

Even just the plastic rubbing in shipping caused some shiny spots on many of them so I would definitely avoid polishing it. A very light wet sand might make it more matte, but try an area out of sight first. I also wouldn't polish the wheels either, those probably need painted.

Yeah agree with you on all points.
Someone painted the wheels on theirs on here a while back and it looked great.
I don’t have the balls to try any mods on this, that and I’m more than happy with it as is

I mean the batmobile we got is a hybrid of both versions, I wanted to do a paint mod but I backed out, although a bit easy, only reason is because is so rare who knows how much it would fetch and I didn’t want to risk it.

The only mod I have done is to remove the pedal backing so Batman can sit more comfortably which was easy and not hard to do.

I've still never put Batman into the Batmobile, not even to test it. I'd need to have a second Batman whose suit I didn't mind stressing.

Ropen is right. The HT Batmobile is an hybrid of both film. The stock paint is not so mat, it is more a satin black close to the Returns vesion. But the rims are too bright, even for the 89 movie.

Even in 89, the rims appears sometimes dark or black.



If you protect well the entire car, it is not too difficult to repaint the wheels. But i understand that you can feel it is risky. But IMO it is a huge improvment.

I love it, looks MUCH better with the black rims.

The HT jet black color scheme, while resembling the car from Returns, kinda makes the toy look cheaper than it should.

I tried Googling the HT car to see if anyone has ever attempted to take it apart and repaint it, but no luck. Unless I'm wrong, there seem to be no attempts at it.

Yeah it was your batmobile I was mentioning when sayins someone had painted the wheels-just forgot who. Awesome work it does look a lot better.
But I’m too much of a wimp to try it [emoji3]

Surely someone who bought one of the cheaper scratch damaged ones would of attempted a full respray?

The only guy I know who had tried a full repaint is another French guy.
He entirely repaint the car, nose, wheels, gas caps and side air intakes. Definitely a Returns configuration.

Looks great but needs a lot of work and attention. Personally it was just the rims that bothered me. The rest of the car is pretty cool and accurate so i did not touch the body, staying in the mood of 89 and not fall in the trap of the CM with a too glossy paint job.

Yeah hard to advise you. Depends on your budget. Always hard to accept to pay the double or triple of the retail price.
But it’s right that it is a fantastic piece and when we see the HT commercial politic, it is a miracle that it saw the light of day.
Definitely something we won’t ever see again at this scale...

If money was no object I'd be all over one to be honest but I can't justify it.
At the time I had money in other collections & I skipped the Batmobile & now I fully regret that decision lol

And you're terrified of scratching it by either banging it against something or your clothes rubbing off it. If there's any inkling of regret I have about buying it it's this awkwardness I brought upon myself. Part of me asks 'couldn't you have bought a smaller one to represent the '89 Batmobile in your collection?' But it was just one of those items I couldn't get out of my head. If memory serves I ordered this and cancelled it twice over before finally ordering it again and going through with it.

It is a beast of a thing. I freaking love it but it's *very* impractical. I went back and read through this thread when I got mine, and I remember reading The Saga of a-dev and his Batmobile.

I think I recall DiFabio had a helluva time with getting a pristine one.

I think I got it a month or so after first release from goodshipped ( back when he could do a good deal )
But I mainly went for him because he inspected it for me & removed the armour shell & sent it separately.
He repackaged it in the box better than hot toys should of[emoji848]
So I got a completely scratch free version, which was my priority.
It cost me £600 including shipping and no custom fees to pay
