I'd give Sideshow the edge as far as basic likeness goes (and having a more accurate head shape), but in terms of detail and paintwork the HT head seems pretty clearly superior to me.

But either way, I agree they're both great looking figures.

This is looking a lot better than the proto pics.
However, I have neither the room nor the money for a Sith Speeder Bike, so I think I'll stick to my Sideshow Maul for now.

Darth Maul with Count Dooku will make a stunning Sith display, love that speeder bike.

But seriously why did they pump out Maul so fast ? I was expecting final production pics at least on September or something...

Now that I look, it does seem that neither SS nor HT got the face paint correct entirely... but the HT paint seems much closer to the real thing.

The only thing HT seem to have gotten wrong is the face shape - seems too wide.

Either way, it's going to look jaw-dropping on the shelf!

Can't wait!

Oh, I'm so split on this guy.

It always just comes down to three factors for me: [1] quality/accuracy of the figure, [2] screen-time and/or relevance and [3] whether the previous two is justified in the price. Normally it's easy to decide since I just collect OT which almost always covers all three.

This one seems to have quality and screen time but has relevance (for me anyway) and price going against it.

SDCC can't come soon enough.

There's really only one character design that pretty much represents the PT: Maul

He's a striking design and captures the imagination immediately. Just as one would choose Vader as the "face" to represent the OT on, say, a blue ray cover, it would be Maul as the "face" for that same representation for the PT.

It also shows why the ST is so sorely lacking in original designs -- their only "face" is Kylo's mask (nothing more than a wanna Vader repeat).

Wide face or crappy body..I can live with a wide face with TT than a thinner face with a lousy SSC body :lecture

Agreed. I'm not even remotely a PT fan, but Maul is one of the most striking and badass designs we've ever seen in SW, and seems worth having in my collection just for that alone.

Not to mention the unlimited number of cool poses he can be put in.

This. All this.

Exactly why he should have been the (single) main antagonist for the entire prequels - then Anakin kills him to take his place at Palpatine's side...

...would have been amazing.

Oh well :(

I'm really struggling whether to get the speeder or not.

I wonder how hard getting these boots parted out will be. I could use the snarling head for duel figure with mashed up medicom and sideshow clothes, but i dont think the V1 ssc maul boots will look very good.
