I’m sure it was a tight line to walk for the director to show Jon attempting to distract the dragon while at the same time not giving away the surprise of Arya.

If he was screaming Go go go while standing in front of the dragon it sure seems like the dragon took a hell of a long dramatic pause to enable Arya to reach and kill the Night King...

I just looked again -- the look he gives beforehand is ambiguous. But it does sound like he screams "Gooo!" and the one White Walker clearly notices something before A Girl shanks the Night King.
Why else cut back to Jon? To show total failure? I don't think so.
I watched it again last night and didn't notice that stuff.
Something I did see that wasn't clear on first viewing is that the Night King catches her by the neck and also the wrist - I initially thought he stabbed Arya. But no, he just caught her Blade hand. So she dropped the blade into her free hand and stabbed him using that hand instead - both of his hands were occupied so he couldn't defend. Very clever of Arya.

You'll never be able to look at Jon Snow screaming at the dragon the same way again. It now has a point.
And yeah, the knife trick was simply poetry. Just like the music.

The article makes that bit make sense to me now.
Exactly. When I first saw it I was like: what the hell is he doing? I was so frustrated with his failures.

To be honest I think the director misfired on a few scenes if any of these theories are true. Don’t think the scene shows Jon helping Arya or seeing her. The only thing that was blatantly conveyed was that Jon was getting frustrated that he couldn’t get past the dragon and reach the Night King.
I think the writers or actors would come forth and clarify if Jon was distracting the dragon.
Heres what happened in D&D terms:
I don’t think Arya would’ve needed help getting past the dragon.
Her sneak skill seems to be maxed out at 100. She has the spectral sprint perk and only a same level character or higher could spot and catch her.
She jumped and threw the dice and was skill roll checked by the King who has 100 perception. Fortunately for Arya her Dexterity skill is also maxed at 100, threw the dice again and had ambidextrous perk kick in and get the win.

It was dark on my screen, but not as dark as in that comparison video.
Top is too dark, and bottom is too bright.
I saw it somewhere in-between those two.

Ill give you that, it may not have been that dark for everyone. But the lighter version adds much more detail without looking over saturated and cartoony.
I get that it was a stylistic/artistic by the creators but if it’s a choice that obscures and hinders the story telling which in this case is a visual medium then the choice was probably a poor one.

Ok, just watched the video on a plasma 55 incher and the bottom version is too saturated.
Somewhere in between as you say would be best.

To be fair, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that super slick move in other action choreography somewhere in the past few years. It’s a trendy move.
