I love my ANH Chewie... guess I was one of the lucky ones, so all I needed was to futz/comb the fur....

The SW section has been so dead lately, I suppose a conversation about a figure in the wrong figure thread is at least some action.

Not trying to start anything, but I have never seen a good HT Chewie without extensive mods to a 235 figure.

I know people think its good, I am not one of them.

I think its the worst HT figures to date.

I totally disagree. Chewie was the figure that got me into 1/6 scale collecting. I never ever thought we could get an actual fur Chewie. You may not like the sculpt but saying it's the worst Hot Toy figure ever is ridiculous.

I’d take Chewie over several other HT Star Wars figures — Ben, Farmboy Luke. To each his own, but your loss for those thinking he’s terrible.

I was able to get some good results from HT Chewie — but the figure is a straight up pain in the ***.

That said, he’s not the worst. Farmboy Luke can be made to look good via lighting and angles, but in its own way, that figure is possibly one of the most disappointing given that so much was riding on it.

If my casual fan girlfriend saw a well-futzed and/or modded Chewie she’d not think twice.

She saw Farmboy Luke and compared him to the bad guy from Karate Kid. [emoji38]

I dunno. 30 minutes with a brush and a little water to tease the fur up in place and Chewie looks more than fine. To call it the worst HT is rather jarring, because even from a technical standpoint, what they achieved with the ANH figure is rather remarkable. Could there be more highlighting in the fur? I'd say yes, but largely he's the sort of stuff that makes HT top of the game. Now whatever went wrong with the TFA one, that's a different story.

Agree with several of the above sentiments. While ANH Chewie isn’t really a hit, I think it’s a bit hyperbolic to think that he’s the worst HT figure to date out of 500+ MMS figures. I don’t think he’s even the worst SW figure.

To each their own though, of course.

Like others, I wish they would do a 2.0 version of this Bespin Luke. Personally, it's my favorite representation of the character. Growing in power, on the fence between the dark and the light, with great learning and development over the course of the film, plus an excellent and emotional twist reveal at the end.

A lot of people forget, or weren't old enough to have seen it at the time, but it was truly a surprise twist when Vader told Luke that he was his father. On top of that, there was no confirmation of any kind, and that scene when Luke is on the Falcon, and Vader says, "Luke", and he responds "Father" wasn't shown in the theatres.

We had a couple years to think about it, doubt it, debate it, etc., before ROTJ came out. It was a really powerful ending to the film...

It's the same with TLJ right now.

So much fun debate in fan circles about how the story will end after all the major questions raised in that "middle film" that so many have compared with ESB.:monkey3

Was that scene really not shown in theatres? When was it added?

And your post brings back so many memories - hours and hours of debating if the 'other' mentioned by Yoda was Han Solo... If Boba Fett was Luke's father...

On ANH Chewie there's variation in terms of fur colour, so some need more tweaking and lightening up out of the box than others do.

In terms of features, the lips may be left alone but look best repainted, the snout is a little beak-like but careful re-positioning of the fur and trimming under the chin once its pulled away from it can mitigate that and shape it. I think the eyes may be set too close but can't remember, I don't have the figure anymore.

Is it the TFA version that has an articulated jaw? If you look through that thread you can see where people have taken it apart to fix it.

Depends on how accurate you want it to look.

I’m planning on tearing apart my TFA chewie one day. I mean I think we can all agree the TFA Chewie was a disaster from Hot Toys

How anyone can say that in a world where Hot Toys TFA Chewie exists is beyond me.

If HT does another Bespin Luke I certainly hope they nail the Hamill likeness at 95% or above. Also they should do a Dagobah theme with Yoda backpack and such. The DX07 is not a figure that badly needs a re-release as it was really well done the first time.

Yeah, it’d be nice to see the level we got on TFA Han and TLJ Luke for a Bespin Han and new Bespin Luke. As much as I like ROTJ Luke it’s not quite a home run, plus it has the controversial open mouth.

For some reason I feel like their ROTJ Han will be the one they finally nail.

My sentiments also.
