I like the boots. The feet are plastic, leggings are leather. I do like the all leather ones better though. They are not as bulky as the v1 Sideshow ones. They are simple, but they look good enough.

I never did get the v1 exclusive blaster. This one is different than Hot Toys. It's a tad bigger. Sideshow top, Hot Toys bottom...

That looks like a noticeable improvement over the HT one size-wise, but also sculpt-wise in a few ways.:clap

The SSC also has a few inaccuracies but the trigger guard on the HT one looks so thick and Hasbro-ish and it also has that weird stubby/short grip that doesn't fill the hand properly (and the grip shape is wrong.) The nozzle area also looks much better proportioned and screen accurate on the SSC one and they got the scope placement right. Great to see we've finally got a correctly scaled Palace blaster - this is one of my favorites.:yess: I might get another one for a Palace guard.

So is it worth just getting the outfit and putting it on Hot Toys Luke?

I thought about it because I like the way the SSC flap looks vs the HT but overall it doesn't look like enough of an improvement over the HT one. The other key issue for me is that the SSC figure itself is a bit taller (and bigger) than the HT figure so I assume the outfit is scaled/fitted for that slightly larger size - so you put it on a small HT body and it may look baggy. It might be okay, but I didn't want to run the risk for something that's only a pretty minor improvement, if at all.

Bottom line is that while I don't love the HT outfit, it's not screaming to be upgraded. Overall it looks fine.

Yeah we should not sugar coat this release, it's just plain bad. The only reason it looks better than awful with the Endor gear is the hat deletes the hair and shades the face. People like to say the Snowspeeder Luke is a great figure, and it is. But it's a similar deal where the sculpt works well enough when covered by the helmet and visor but the hero head lives in a parts bin because it's substandard.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. On one of the hot toys collectors webpage a few buyers and trying to convince people (and themselves I'm guessing) that's its a rather good release and those who don't like it are "haters". I have no issue with anyone loving anything they own... but to let Sideshow off the hook by pretending this figure is anything better than "poor" seems disingenuous and places blame on the collectors themselves.

Parts up at TA!

:duff Picked up a couple things I wanted to check out in hand.

Even the Sideshow pistol looks like it was sculpted with a butter knife.

Not really.

Thanks for that. I picked up the tunic and sash to replace my old Sideshow one. This one looks pretty good. Going to compare with the HT might even swap with that first.

Anyone with both which tunic do you prefer? HT or SS ?

Did the same. Curious to see the tunic in hand. I like that it’s a tiny bit more gray and longer, should contrast with the rest of the figure a bit better.

Finally figured out who this guy is..its Christopher Walkin Skywalker

Hey everyone. Just stopping by to let you all know that I shot my review today. I'll get it uploaded as soon as possible. Unfortunately I sold my Hot Toys figure awhile back, so I couldn't compare them side by side - but I did point out the big differences that I remembered. I'm testing out a new format where I hope to make my reviews more thorough and videos longer in result. All in all, the figure is ok... but it feels third party in many ways. Not in the worst ways imaginable, but after having my hands on so many Hot Toys figures over the last few months I was really caught off guard by how this figure felt in comparison. There's a few things I prefer to the Hot Toys release, but I'll save that for the review. Talk soon

Usually SS weapons look comparable and even better than Hot Toys in some cases but this one looks rough.

Criticism is good if it’s based in observation and knowledge. But did you even look at the picture? You should at least know the reference well enough to be this brutal.

Well, I have now seen two youtube review videos of this figure - the first guy utterly HATED/despised everything about it, the second guy absolutely LOVED everything about it. And I mean everything.

Just goes to show with 1/6 as in life - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and one man's trash is another man's treasure.:dunno:lol

Haha, this could have been posted in the Jabba thread. (Except for the bad review of course)

Is this figure great? No. Is it worth $235? Probably not. I would not have got this without rewards points and free shipping.

The most important aspect of the figure(hero headsculpt), is a huge letdown. However, there are some nice features and I prefer the Endor sculpt on this over the Hot Toys Endor prototype.

Anyways, just my opinion.

It also, perhaps, illustrates who received a free figure for their review. ;)

I'm doing a parts breakdown of this figure. Just found that the neck on this body is removable. Good news for those that want to use the Inigo sculpt or Hot Toys sculpt.

Yeah. Who are the reviewers?
Do they receive free figures?
I’d be skeptical of a review where the reviewer got the figure free for review.
Not in a bad way. I can understand wanting to get newer figures for review.

Chaka, can the open gloved hand on SS Luke be peg swapped and used or HT Luke? I was thinking about picking and extra hand up. Thanks buddy.

I hate to be "that guy" but that SSC sculpt looks horrible. Typical Sideshow soft sculpting and sub par paint. The Hot Toys sculpt is far superior.
