See, it's **** like this which is why the movie Enemy of the State scared me more than any horror movie. The scariest things to me are the things going on behind our backs. And don't feed the world bull**** about protection and freedom because those things are being thrown out the door in these efforts. Terrorism and stuff is gonna happen and you're not gonna stop it all, and it'd be far more worthwhile to try and change the motives behind having the country attacked instead of stripping away our rights. Ya our government doesn't kill us and things like some others do, but it'd be foolish to think we're a "free" nation, in fact, at least other nations know when they're getting bent over and ****ed or stabbed with a knife, in this country, it's done to you without you ever knowing it until after the fact.

The wonderful world we live in, no privacy, fear, this world is ****ed...

Ok , is it possible? Yes, with a regular phone no. Would they make something like this and replace phones so they can track they yes.

I cant belive people belive these reports at face value.

Will telecommunication companies bend to the will of the consumer and include a warning in their packaging? Will they do anything if consumers didn't buy the 'reported' offending models?

It was on the cards. It was scarey without all the facts, and even scarier with more facts. They record all digital transmissions already. Really it's nothing new. History repeats. Governments will always screw over their own people. Money, power, control. Same as it ever was.

You don't have to do anything wrong to be bent you over either. The paperless society means they know what you spend your money on and how much they can increase taxes, fees and levies. Who is hurting and who is not, and how far to push and what the backlash politically is.

Yeah, I can't see this being a huge issue. I know at least in my cell phone it doesn't even connect to anything while it's off. It's so slow it takes a bit before it connects to the network when I turn it on. Plus, if you have a flip phone that closes over the mic it might make that useless. And the phone type would be an issue as well since phones aren't the same inside and they use different software.

Damn straight. Problem is in this country is that facism is subversive but the American public are too ignorant and too apathetic to care. As long as they have their cable TV and their Xbox and their porn they could care less if their civil liberties are being undermined by the American government. It's funny because I was at Wal-Mart last night and I saw a sign that showed the map of the store and it said "Your Wal-Mart" and it instantly reminded me of the map of "Your Village" from The Prisoner. We are living in The Village. The sad thing is though I would rather live in "that" Village than the one we are living in now.

Yes people be very afraid!
We have 302,000,000 people, and I bet thats why they wanted the illegal immigrants so we can have another 302,000,000 people to listen in on the original 302,000,000.
Its like surveillance cameras people. Do you actually believe someone sits and monitors them?
The government isn't subversive or fascist. Look at China, or Russia (especially during the cold war) and they are fascist subversive governments. China just executed the man responsible for quality control on exporting food products.
If our government were fascist, Rosie O'Donnell would be dead, Michael Moore would be dead, hell 90% of Hollywood would be dead.
The government doesn't keep the middle class down, especially when you consider the top 50% of wage earners pay 96% of the income tax.
It amazes me when people give so much credit to government efficiency when that term itself is an oxymoron.

Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and other societal interests subordinate to the needs of the state, and seeks to forge a type of national unity, usually based on, but not limited to, ethnic, cultural, or racial attributes. Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, authoritarianism, statism, militarism, corporatism, populism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, racism and opposition to economic and political liberalism.

I'd say that pretty much nails the Bush administration to a T.

Dave with all of those 'isms' I think you described every possible government.
Also, those attributes you named aren't necessarily negative.

funny thing i keep my cell phone in a lower pockett in my shorts ......about all they would hear from me all day are BUTT WHISPERS!:dump

"You're either with us, or you're against us." - George W. Bush

Those are the words echoed by nearly every authoritarian dictator throughout history.

"You're either with me, or you're my enemy." - Anakin Skywalker

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
