someone help with steam,

bought a game the other day and havent used steam for a month, but now everytime i go to logg in it stops responding, what the hell im seriously about to smash my computer, ive tried uninstalling and making a new account nothing happens its so frustrating, why cant we just download games of the disc like the old days, using windows 7 can anyone help

If the problem lies with the game - Right click on the game title under library -> properties -> local files & click on verify integrity of game cache. If there's anything missing, steam will usually download it so that you can run the game.

If its the Steam client itself, your best bet is to submit a support ticket thru steam or check their official forums and see if anyone had any similar cases as yours.
