Yeah it was a custom Iron Man. It could be a tease of things to come though. Maybe HT is dropping little hint...

That MGS1 screenshot is from the twin versions ( gamecube), and they "reused" basically the MGS2 Snake model.. even shows the belt ammo pouches from the MGS2 version, instead the original design of Shinkawa..

I knew about the importance of the lighting environment and scheme colors for Kojima .. (same for MGS1), but if you see Shinkawa's artworks for Snake from MGS2 (and all figures released).. all have that bluish gray, but is still different from the conceptual grayer color of MGS1 snake.. no matter the color or lighting enviroment (besides the MGS1 baggy - MGS2 tight pants)
The low harness (crouch area) and elbow/ knee pads are'nt the the only differences between both versions.. very similar in style but again.. not the same.

Extra headsculpts for some figures?, yes of course!..but HT are'nt so "sloppy" .. and they will never do an inaccurate " MGS1 to MGS2 Solid Snake" Swapping the vest and headsculp only.. cause there are more diffferences between them to fix

The weapons would be different too... so I directly discarded this idea.

Which would you choose?

- 2 accurate and different/ separate versions for Solid Snake (MGS1- MGS2) including different clothing, holster, pads, harness, unique accessories, weapons..
- 1 inaccurate 2 in 1 version for Solid Snake (swapping vest and headsculp)... however, If you want to display both versions you would have to buy 2 units from the same figure..

A Solid Snake DX figure is'nt a bad idea after all.. you'll get more.. neverthless you'll have to buy an spare TT, but would pay only a little more than a regular figure + the spare TT

Well seeing how they're developing their Iron man figures with detachable battle damage parts, I could see him coming with some cool stuff. I think they could even give him a reveal face similar to the Iron man faceplates...Man just talking about the cyborg ninja gets me really excited...I hope they make it.

My entire previous post illustrated how a 2-in-1 Snake wouldn't at all be inaccurate, but in fact, accurate. I've addressed all the points you've reiterated, but you're not really picking up on any of my counterarguments, so I'll just leave it at that. Besides, the additional weapons (at least a USP & M4) probably would throw it over into DX territory, and I just don't get the feeling any figures from this line will get the DX treatment. Even though it would be awesome.

Seriously ..

I saw your point of view from the beginning bro!..because I had almost the same thoughts the first time I saw solid Snake in the first MGS2 trailer..

I told to myself:" "OK, it's the same MGS1 outfit or sneaking suit, with the same shoulder shades.. but Mr.Kojima has removed the vest and and has given him a torso harness with clips,..thats all"
..Then, after seeing artworks and figures, I realized that Kojima had made many changes , some of them very subtle, of course..and not very noticiable in the game due to the graphic detail .

IMO, I believe that, not even Hottoys know very well which figures must be treated as DX..

speaking of which, how many figures do hot toys release in a year? i mean average. i just got into the 1/6th scene this november. so kinda late, lol

cuz with so many new licenses, how many mgs figures will be release in 2011? pretty sure they gonna try to release the early mgs fig by 2nd qtr to correspond the game's release. and the 3ds released date is march. gonna have to be patient

There's no way in hell Hot Toys is going to do a 2-in-1 of MGS1 snake and MGS2 snake. They could make more money doing 2 separate releases.

no photo evidence, but if hes TRUELY big bosses clone then he woulda tore it up like bigboss to EVA. haha

No, they probably won't do 2-in-1, but they wouldn't necessarily be losing money with this route. It would give them an excuse to jack up the price on it, perhaps selling it a DX, while at the same freeing up resources and maybe give us an additional character we wouldn't have had.

There are more than enough characters in the license for Hot Toys to make money, that is if they have the license for the whole franchise.

Guys, we probably ought to stop speculating whether or not they're going to make a 2-in-1 figure with MGS1 and 2 since we have no idea if they're even going to tackle these games.
There's still a high probability but, for now, the only true hint that we have is that they're going to start with Snake Eater.

Regarding the females discussion, the most likely to be made in my eyes is Eva.

To have her and Naked Snake displayed together on my shelf would be a dream come true.

I want Naked Snake in his military fatigues, on a muscle body, so you can strip him down to when he was escaping from Groznyj Grad with his fork, all wounded and such, with alternate 'eye shot out' sculpt. Like this minus the patch:

Then a separate Big Boss in sneaking suit figure.

Heck, a guy can dream right?
