It would be cool to have a magazine called the "NAM" magazine if you were into airsoft AND you served in the Vietnam Conflict, but it is not cool to have a magazine called the "NAM" magazine if you didn't serve there. A lot of Vietnam vets think that it is wrong to say "Nam" unless you were THERE. If you weren't there, you are pretty judgmental towards other people when you have a magazine called thenammagazine if you weren't even in the Vietnam conflict. Glass houses.

I guess Vietnam doesn't have a leg to stand on then. Given without us creating an unnecessary war there and killing thousands of Vietnamese in the process, upsetting the culture and then abandoning them when they needed us the most, they wouldn't have the right to use the nickname and all, either, right? Does your ignorance know no bounds? :lol

FYI: The "NAM" in The NAM: National Airsoft Magazine isn't even pronounced the same way as the nickname "NAM" for Vietnam, unless you're some inbred hick who's too stupid to understand or care about correct pronunciation.

You must really love airsoft Nam to name yourself after there magazine, not having a go at you , just saying.
Either that or I own it. :dunno :lol

I guess I'm an inbred hick, 'cause I didn't realize it was pronounced differently. :(

Although I did know it didn't stand for Vietnam.

Tell your sister-mom I said hi. :wave

Most people actually don't know it's got nothing to do with Vietnam, which is good. I don't have to worry about the 300lb gun-nut, gear-whoring stalkers who bombard me at shows/games/events. :lol

It's not my sister-mom! It's my grandma-mom. :pfft:

So how is it pronounced?

"Nam" has always been a nickname for the Vietnam Conflict in Military parlance. Most Vietnam vets don't think that anyone who didn't serve there has a right to use the term, and they consider it disrespectful for people to do so. Maybe you didn't know that. Don't try and twist this into some political exegesis about whether the Vietnamese have more of a right to use the nickname "Nam", because it is irrelevant when thenammagazine is associated with the Military and military camouflage. Talk about ignorance.
As far as pronunciation, you can't tell that from reading it, and furthermore, pronunciation is moot.

My point is that you shouldn't be so judgmental towards others, when if even a lesser degree of judgmental-ism were applied to your rep, you would find yourself looking worse.

So how is it pronounced?

The "NAM" for Vietnam rhymes with "nom" and the "NAM" for National Airsoft Magazine rhymes with "ham." :huh

So these same people picketed Marvel Comics and took offense to their monthly comic given the owners hadn't fought in the conflict? My magazine is associated with the sport of airsoft and airsoft alone. While aspects are certainly militaristic, and we have covered events that reenact battles in the conflict (like Gettysburg Civil War reenactors) at it's heart, it's a glorified game of war that just about every kid plays in his backyard at one point or another. My magazine, again, has absolutely no association with the conflict in Vietnam. I will add by saying that one of our staff members is a former Green Beret who served in Thailand during the end of the Vietnam conflict and he takes absolutely no offense whatsoever to the name of our publication. Neither do the thousands of Vietnam veterans I've met over the course of doing this (since 2004). So the fact that you're making a huge deal out of this, that not even the thousands of veterans I've had the luxury of meeting over the years have done, and bringing my personal life into an argument because you got the ass end of it is not only inappropriate, but entirely irrelevant to anything and everything having to do with the Hot Toys Batmobile.

Alright American history and a magazine owner's life story are interesting and all, but this is a topic about a giant piece of plastic on wheels.

You do realize you sound like an Enterbay apologist defending a lackluster piece that got spanked by Hot Toys Lee. Doubly so when you think of all the ____ you guys talked before the DX04 was released? Especially when you spew this oral diarrhea in a Hot Toys thread, right?

Funny how you have to call me a teenager and an ass because my views as a realist don't those those from the POV of the inside of your colon. :huh

blah blah blah newb. blah blah ass. blah blah de blah blah air rifle. blah de blah kids with guns. why don't you do us all a favor and go away Nam.

Your constant attacking, berating of everyone and anyone who disagrees with you only serves to make you look more idiotic. Everyone is a newb, right? Does that make you feel better about yourself. Call your little trojan buddies in. No one is afraid of you Nam, bully tactics is for cowards, grow a pair and start acting like an adult.

Now stop ruining ____ing threads, I and a lot of other freaks are ____ tired of your BS. You offer nothing of worth to any thread you post in, except some humor, but I'm laughing AT you. I couldn't give a flying ____ about your personal history, so get back on topic. Please. Can we talk about the Batmobile or do we have to engage in more of your ____?

Lighten up, Francis. This thread isn't going anywhere.

Because your resorting to personal insults and namecalling because you've just about failed at every point of logical debate are so much more mature, right? :huh

Look back over our posts. You've been calling me names left and right yet I haven't even insulted you once. How about you grow up for a change and either pretend to at least be as adult as the rest of us, or go find a board and high-five with the Matty Batman collectors?
