Very cool! And awesome pics. I am insanely jealous. Visiting film locations is one of my hobbies and I intend to do the Tunisia Trip myself someday soon.

Thanks for sharing!

Great pics! You are giving me the wanderlust bad! I shouldn't have looked at these right as I got to work.:lol

Great pictures. I almost expected to see jawas walking around with crappy droids to sell. :rock

Wait is that from the actual EPIV set?? It's been there 30+ years???

It's the Mos Espa set built for the EPISODE I production (and used again briefly during filming of AOTC). Lucasfilm turned it over to the Tunisian government to maintain as a tourist attraction.

Cool thanks for the pics.:D

I did the same with LOTR(link below).Im sure u had an awesome time.;)

Thanks guys! :)

I thought it was really unsafe to travle to Tunisia?

Not at all, people are very friendly and hospitable, even if it is a Muslim country there were lots and lots of foreign tourists: we were 12 Romanians, there were about 4 Hungarians in our hotel. On the streets we met: Czeh, Polish, Germans, Austrians, English, French, Italians, Japanese and even a couple from New Zealand. These are people we encountered more than once but there were other hundreds of tourists from all over the world.

Too bad some idiots vandalized the movie set by taking "souvenirs" or writing their idiotic names on the walls and it wasn't the local people because they are not really aware of the SW phenomenon... But it was a really great trip!

More pictures of the Tunisian Star Wars set
.

Clearly there's not too much to see. I mean let's face it, if not for Star Wars filming there, that place would be nothing but a barren desert.

Not really, on other dunes there is the English Patient movie set. As for the country itself, Tunisia is just beautiful! You should visit it one day and you'll change your opinion in a second.

That's awesome. Wasn't the Lars homestead from Episode IV some hotel in Tunisia? That'd be cool to go there.

Yes it is - Hotel Sidi Driss :)

Remember the pics with the sunrise at Chott El Jerid salt lake? Or the Tozeur and Nefta oases? I visited all those :)

https://www.movie-locations.com/movies/s/starwars.html

"The exterior of the homestead, where Luke contemplates the two suns, is part of the vast Chott el Jerid, the dry, white salt flat stretching across central Tunisia to the oases of Tozeur and Nefta. The site of Luke’s home, now a couple of filled-in circular pits, can be found a few miles south from Highway 3 on a turnoff just west of Nefta."

Also the English Patient's filming location was close toe the Star Wars one:

https://www.movie-locations.com/intromovies/engpatient.html

"The desert camp of Count Laszlo de Almásy (Ralph Fiennes) is in the Tunisian Sahara a few miles from the oasis of Nefta. The site is beneath the bizarre Onk Jemal, the Camel's Neck rock formation, not too far from the sets for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. A guided desert safari, with a four-wheel drive vehicle is the most practical way to see the location."

My own picture of Onk Jemal the Camel's Neck rock - a few km from Mos Espa movie set
