WETA Workshop Announces 50th Anniversary PLANET OF THE APES Statue and Figurine Line

The only other item WETA showed off at SDCC was a kind of Mt. Rushmore statue of Ape characters spanning the 50 years.

Strange... none of the characters from Tim Burton's 2001 "re-imaging" are represented.

There was no sign of the other statue they had silhouetted at the SDCC tease.

No sign of the left gorilla soldier statue at all. We now know what the right one was revealed.

I wish Neca would give us some 1/4 scale apes like Zauis, Ursus and a Gorilla Soldier.

NECA reserves their 1:4 figures for their best sellers which Planet of the Apes was not, unfortunately.

Still, I have hopes one day some company will take a shot at making a 1:4 scale statue of an POTA ape... one day.

It's from Weta. You can order from them direct or BBTS has it up for PO as well. 1/6 scale - $299.99, ES is TBD but I imagine it's gonna be pretty low.

I've always wanted one great stand-alone piece to represent POTA in my collection and this statue is perfect for that IMO.

Scored a couple of Mini Epics this month for my birthday.




Although these figurines are not for everyone, I LOVE them! Wished there was cleaner paint apps on them.
