Hi :wave I decided to start this thread so we could compile reviews and in-hand pics.

Every great adventure needs a treasure map and in
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,
the map was created by Thror, grandfather of Thorin Oakenshield.

It contains not only the lay of the land, but also detailed instructions.
Some clear as day, some concealed.

Designed and drawn by Daniel Reeve of the 3 Foot 7 art department
who created the original prop for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
~~~~~~~~
Weta's map has been made from a scan of the original and printed in
Middle-earth (New Zealand) on finest Italian Marina Conchiglia
parchment paper.
Thorin's Map - Parchment Art Print is a treat to behold and the die-cut
edges add to the feeling of authenticity.
The famous Moon Runes that play an important part in the story have
been printed in a layer of high gloss varnish on the otherwise matt
surface.
This is almost impossible to see in the product photographs and even
to the naked eye it can be hard to spot, but in the right light they're
visible and legible.
If you read Dwarven runes, of course.
Thorin's Map is also available as a high end Prop Replica.
I actually bought this guy, and waiting on it to get here. I can not wait on it and might take the plunge on the "prop" version if I like it that much, I am finding myself buying more prop type stuff then the statues now.
Well I received my shipment from NZ BUT.............................
It was a map of middle earth....................:clap
The ME map is quite stunning and I should have picked one up when Daniel was signing them, oh well. I notified Weta and they are awesome to work with, they are sending the correct map........Oh well what is 3 more weeks......
Looking forward to seeing a few pics of the parchment print. Only photos I have seen were from vendors and most were taken from the weta site anyway.
This will certainly be not my last purchase! Loving Weta for the superb quality.
All of my friends were fooled by the false weathering. "Hey it s ripped at the side!" :lol
I received mine in the mail yesterday and was floored by it, I could only imagine what the prop replica is like! I am loving these maps from Weta, and Daniel Reeve is a MASTER at creating these guys!
Looks awesome. Mine is on the way. I just wish the copyright notice was on the reverse, a part from that it looks like money well spent.
