Re: Star Wars 1313

That really really pisses me off, not that the game is gone, although that would have been something cool. But that they just shut down the studio. Of course it had its problems, but they just needed some better management.

There is no way it stays cancelled.
The assets will be licensed to another studio who will finish it...most likely by hiring the employees that were working on it at Lucasarts.

Seems to be pretty far on develoment, sad to see it go. Here's to hoping someone else picks it up!

Good, Lucasarts was one of the top developers at one point, Rebel Assault, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, Dark Forces were all considered the best of the best for their time. And lets not forget all the point and click adventures they revolutionized like Sam and Max, Monkey Island etc. KOTOR is the only recent success in what, 20 years? And since than have released alot of mediocre projects, they outsourced alot of work, and canceled multiple projects that people were looking forward to for years like Battlefront 3 and Indiana Jones. And they've had plenty of money so I don't feel remote pity. This is what happens when you have all the money and oppurtunity in the world and no imagination.

Before It Was Cancelled, Star Wars 1313 Was Going To Be About Boba Fett

We've learned a great deal about Star Wars 1313 over the past few months, and today we've got one more huge detail thanks to a reliable Kotaku source: last year, just before E3, LucasArts shifted focus and turned it into a game about the masked bounty hunter Boba Fett.
The Strange Status of Star Wars: 1313, A Hot Game With an Uncertain Future
It's not unusual for a newly-revealed video game to disappear for eight months. It's not… Read…

This happened last May. Star Wars creator George Lucas looked at 1313—which at that point had been scrapped and refocused multiple times—and told the team he wanted it to be about Boba Fett, the mercenary whose origins as a clone were revealed in the Star Wars prequel movies.

You can see concept art from this version of Star Wars 1313 above. Boba Fett stands over someone who looks a whole lot like Bossk, a lizard-like bounty hunter who Fett has apparently captured. They appear to be in the seedy underworld of Coruscant.
Disney Shuts Down LucasArts, Cancels Star Wars 1313 And Star Wars: First Assault
Disney has laid off the staff of LucasArts and cancelled all current projects.Read…

Sadly, LucasFilm cancelled the troubled game yesterday, when they shut down LucasArts, the 30-year-old video game studio responsible for 1313, among many other games. Although LucasFilm has said that 1313 and the studio's other cancelled game, Star Wars: First Assault, could be licensed out to other developers, I've been told by multiple sources that chances are very slim. Development on the game had been on hold since last fall, as we reported in February.

"They ended up with movie tech that wouldn't fit in a game, and game tech that wouldn't fit in a movie," a source told me. "1313 was always in danger of not being made."

As I said. The game was going to suck anyways and Disney didn't want to screw up Boba Fett's backstory. Good for Disney!

Wow... it would have been awesome having a new character but screwing around with a popular character isn't a smart move... now I'm not sad it's cancelled, lol.

With his movie coming out, I wouldn't be surprised if they let another developer continue it down the line or even let somebody do something similar. I have faith Fett will eventually have his own game and that it'll be worth the wait. Hell, I still play FU:II with his costume sometimes:lol

I'm hoping that Fett spin off doesn't get made either, I don't to see him get ruined like Vader did with the prequels.

I'd much rather see that Snyder 7 Samurai rumor be true, lol.
