Question: how does one replicate the look of snow in 1/6 form? as a matter of fact how does one make a diorama period. Thanks in advance.

Hobby Lobby actually has diorama kits, one in particular is for making a snow scene. Specifically this kit has a glue/paste type liquid that you brush over the surface of what you want to have snow on. The kit also has a little cannister of snow looking sprinkles that have a little shimmer (like snow does) that you sprinkle onto the brushed on glue.

I believe its only about $15-20 so its a cheap enough gamble to see if you like the results.

I think they can be found in the are where the model cars are. They have a section of miniature railroad tracks, trees etc.

Hope that helps
